Music Editing and Cutting Software

Post by Tuz76 »

Hi,

I have a music project whereby what Im trying to achieve is to take 2 mp3s, and to mix them up together. For example, the intro of Mp3 one, after 20 seconds goes to the middle of mp3 two, which then goes into the last part of mp3 one, and finishes with the end of Mp3 two. The idea is to then have it as one continuous MP3 file that plays the two cut up mp3s as one single track.

Then once its all done, I would then like to be able to throw in other sounds into the music. for example at one point in the music, I could make the sound of thunder fading in just before it cuts to the next section. or add in a scream.

The whole idea of course is for the finished product to sound like its a single seamless transition from one part to the next.

Please can some of you guys recommend me the software I should be buying or at least educate me on how to go about this? (Its a project so I dont want to utilise a professional sound engineer :) )

I am a novice when it comes to music editing so please bear in mind!!

Also one question. - What is this called? Mixing? Splitting? (might help me chase down the software I need) and what software do i use to add the effects

Cheers

Tuz!

You'll need an editing program like Sound Forge or Cool Edit, and maybe a multi-track sequencer like ACID Pro or Cool Edit to make on-the-fly changes easy. It ain't cheap, though.
