Post by Incognito »

Your probably going to find some spin on almost any site.

Try the dictionary. Altough them ideas that define each, arn't exactly on the money either.

I sent you a pm with a link to a very biased site but for the record...it's not far off and very informative.

Less government, less taxes, less regulation, freedom to choose, keeping our military strong, taking responisbility for own actions, and not blaming others for it but only after the fact

Ghosthunter=Conservative

Blisster,Jayyy=Liberal

Here is a great question for you to study...it will help tie it all together for you.

Do the needs of the individual come before the needs of free enterprise? What does the Constitution protect...individual freedom or corporate freedom?

OK I will explain simple what the average conservative believes:

Less government, less taxes, less regulation, freedom to choose, keeping our military strong, taking responisbility for own actions, and not blaming others for it

Conservatism is maintaining the status quo, keeping the king, and all the king's men...in power. It's tradition. It's the class system.

I disagree it is about empowering people to make their own choices instead of relying on the government to make it for them.

Then you are NOT a true conservative!

Don't worry....neither am I. ;)

Multiculturalism...it's the basis for our way of life in America....and why the two party system is flawed. Two parties can't accomodate the masses.

In fact, you are more of a liberal (in denial) by your own definition!

4. How do liberals differ from "libertarians" and "conservatives"?

Once upon a time (in the 1800s), "liberal" and "libertarian" meant the same thing; both were individualist, distrustful of state power, pro-free-market, and opposed to the entrenched privilege of the feudal and mercantilist system. After 1870, models of of society were being refined in terms of the structural effects of group interaction; the social environment came to be seen as a significant factor in determining the ability of large numbers of people to succeed in attaining their goals (and indeed in determining what those goals were). Libertarians felt that any attempt to solve social problems had to depend on private, voluntary effort, and that modifying social factors would inevitably lead to worse problems. Liberals felt that the problems were too serious to be passively left to chance in this way, and that government should have a role in influencing the social framework within which people act. Economically, liberals came to believe that pure free markets led to systematic abuse, so that a limited amount of regulation was needed; libertarians continued to favour the caveat emptor approach. By this time, conservatives had become comfortable with the free-market, capitalist system, so they joined forces with the libertarians on the economic (though not the social) front.

Interesting....so your taxes really only go to those slobs that won't work? I wasn't aware that taxes only funded the lazy to continue their debauchery.....scoundrels...one and all......* as I hitch up my horse and buggy to take me over dirt roads with bandits at every corner to take whats rightfully mine while I ponder my grocery list..*

I always make sure I take a loaded gun before I leave suburbia. :p
