[rant] Hungriest play NFL/Snickers Promo

Has anyone played it? I won a free snickers bar on the game on Monday, and printed out the coupon, drove it to my local Kash N Karry, (a major grocery retail chain) and the lady at the service desk says, "This is fake. If its from a computer, it's not real, I'm not going to take that." It was printed right from the snickers.com site, and "Powered by coupons.com"

Does Snickers or coupons.com not notify retailers? I used to print them from smartsavings all the time. You think that she would have ½ a clue.

As it stands right now, I will never will shop there again, I emplore you all to do the same, unless they can right me.

I'm writing letters.

People are being cautious... however, I know exactly how you feel. Hate being accused of something that you know or are not.

I've been into situations like that and I will never ever go back to those places unless for revenge of sorts.

It's kind of like going to a fancy place and people give you the look as if they don't think you're supposed to be here. It's feels like being discriminated because of your age or race and such.

Ah well, live and learn I suppose. One day I will be powerful and I will be feared but until then, I will have to be nice to everyone and claw my way up...

If you get a response from snickers.com or what not, make sure you have significant proof and go back and make sure the lady knows about it. I'd like to see the look on people's faces when they wrongly accuse someone.

Oh, I fully intend on correcting the "Service Desk" cashier. Once I get something from snickers, or the like. I can share pictures of the coupon, If you'd like...It'll only takes a second to scan.

I was thinking ... her telling me that it was a fake is the same as her calling me a counterfiter... I was truly offended. Isn't that a form of defemation of character? Am I being punished because I choose to use a computer? I think I'll contact a lawyer too.

I'm taking my first law class and lemme take a look..

Defamation occurs when someone makes afalse stament that could lead a reasonable person to have alower opinion of the plaintiff.

According to my book, if a neutral person reasonably believes that the statement that she said refers to you and that the statment makes neutral person/party to think less of you. I think that's defamation.

Slander is a defamatory statement that is spoken. Almost any uncomplimentary statement can be defamaotry as long as it could hurt a person's reputation. A seemingly harmless statement may be defamtory once it is considered in context. In this case, you are falsely accused of counter feiting or of fruad without even her carefully examining it or reasnoable proof other than "it's from a computer"

Her defence could be justification, privilege or fair comment. She can't use the first two since 1) it's not true 2) she's not a member of the press or political party. Fair comment is to protec "informed opinions". She will have to have reasonable proof that the coupon is indeed fake to claim that.

Given, I'm new to these things so I'm just spweing out what I know of. There are many things I do not know of. Just using my book..

One thing that might be hard is that, you do not have any proof she said that. Other than your word agaisnt hers, it will be tough.

So, I called them... they are sending out coupons printed by them... apparently $25.00 worth. Still no word from the grocery chain.
