Help PLEASE! I just had Direcway installed in our rural office to get better than 56k connectivity. It is the DW4000 system with a USB connection to ONE computer.
I have a NT server with ONE domain. Then I have 2 Win98SE workstations and 4 WINXPPRO workstations. Mine is an XP Pro station and has the USB satellite on it.
I can surf and use the net fine with decent speed. HOWEVER it appears that since I have a domain I can't use ICS..or at least not easily. I got some GEEK help but was told it is very complicated!
I have seen some software programs out there that brag they will install and make it work ($$$$). The GEEK told me to be careful they will NOT work with the domain. Every time I share the LAN card OR the USB Satelitte connection the domain disconnects and I can't see the server.
When I run the ICS wizard it says there is nothing to do!
SINCE LAST week when I installed this thing, DirecWay has NOW got a DW6000 eithernet modem out! (My luck). This may be my last resort to upgrade to it and use a router.
Can anyone offer help?

Id do some heavy complaining because there has been a couple of ether-port solutions for a little bit now at least a month.

There has been only one way to set up Direcway connection sharing, and that was to use MS ICS or another software systems such as WinRoute. Bother tend to slow down the connection for the client boxes because the connnection is proportional to the performance of the host box, even if using a proxy.
Direcway now has a new package, with multiple IPs and a new modem box with built in router. It's made by Helios and uses an embedded Linux OS in the box.
Get the new package, you should be able to upgrade to it and save some of the cost because the dish is already set up and wired.
This package (hardware) is the same used for their business class service, which has ability to use Domains and static IPs locallly.
That box shown in the above PDF is the one I am referring to. but it is pricy, about $900.00.
Your only other option is to set up an old 486 or better w/ Linux as a gateway and to use the beta Dirwcway drivers on it. This linux project is underway and far from being ready for broad usage.
