Post problem

Post by Crimson »

My computer isn't posting all the sudden from its shutdown last night. When I try to boot, I'm getting a long continuous 5 second beep that repeats. Any ideas what failed component makes that beep pattern?

Thanks,

Well, appears one of my sticks of ram (geil golden dragon pc3500) has died. Tried banks 1|3 2|4 and every combination between the two sticks and no post. Then I tried the sticks separately. One booted up no problem. The now known defective stick, got the same beee1, 2, 3, 4, 5eeeep error and would not post. It worked flawlessly for six weeks at default voltage (2.6) and default speeds with decent cooling, wonder why it would die all the sudden? Never would have thought, thanks for the suggestions.
