Post by ghost »

Got a call this morning that the project I'm working on has been axed. Once again I'll be out of a job. Jeez, I hate the thought of having to go through what I did back in 2002 when I was out of work for 8 months.

Already started looking and I have feelers out. Updating the resume tonight.

Hi ghost

Well one Big Belch ought to solve your immediate problem, the other may take a bit more to do, unfortunately.

I wish you good fortune & will put you in my Prayers tonight.

Stay positive.

Ya, mexican food does suck, especially if its one of them frozen premade Burrito's, or worse, Taco Bell

My stomache is turning just thinkin of Taco Bell

Wasn't this job a temp position when you started?

Look at the bright side
More experience to put on the resume', and knowing a few more peeps in the business, that always help
and more time to overclock that PIV :)

Good Luck Eric, you will find something

Chris, yeah, it was supposed to be temporary anyway, but the project had just gotten support from the COO with plans to expand for further testing. This was just two weeks ago. Now this? Talk about unexpected.

YOSC, I'm sorry to hear about your job. Your skills *guarantee* that you'll find suitable work, you have a niche. My skills are broad...Jack of All Trades, Master of None. Employers seem to want specific skills, and you possess that. I wish you the best in your job search. ;)

Hey guys... sorry to hear about BOTH of these things. I hope you find something damn quick.

And, on a related not, I have been notified that I am able to quit teaching mid-year as long as I go to a private business. So, I think I will be on for working as Marketing. :)

Sweet ! :)

Wow, terrible news for the both of you!

Hopefully this is a very short period. Both of you are talented and Ghost, don't sell yourself short, my friend......Add me to one of those who'll say a prayer for you. YOSC...you too!

Good luck, guys!

Oh boy, not again Ghost. :(

Look on the bright side. You found work last time, and you'l find work this time. It's the worrying that is the problem, not the job loss.

It's a new beginning, wherever it takes you. :)

Good luck to you Ghost, and YOSC. Hoping you find work sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Downhill, I hope you're right about this being a short period, for both me and YOSC.

[JUST SAW NORM'S POST]: Thanks Norm, I usually don't worry about things but I'm having some bad flashbacks right now. It should be easier with the experience I've gained in the last year, but the job market still sucks as bad, if not worse.

While I'm sorry to hear of the losses, I don't have any words of wisdom to offer. It's happening all around our area and everyone is on edge. I simply don't see where they get the idea that the economy is getting better when all I see is more and more people becoming unemployed.

Sorry to hear about it guys. We go through this on a regular basis in this house. It sucks!

It sounds as bad as my wife's employer. They called them in for a meeting and told them all that things were fine and they'd have work for some time to come and the very next week, laid everyone off. She's back to work now, but we've been through this so many times over the past 3 years, that we don't have any faith or trust in any employment now.

I'm in the same boat as YOSC. Tomorrow's the last day for us. It's been alot of fun working with someone like him. I've learned alot from him over the last few years. Whenever I ran into a real tricky problem with a pc, I could always count on him to lend some advice. I guess our " Country Club " jobs are near the end.................Bummer...........

I want to thank everybody for the encouraging words, I really appreciate that.

YOSC and Dave's World are in the same boat, keep using this thread for well-wishes in their situations too.

It's difficult to see this as just another cycle in life as it's happening. What a nightmare it was last time.

Ghost, Dave's World and YOSC you all have my sympathies. It's a terrible thing to lose your job, and even worse when you don't see it coming. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Eric, not for nothing, but you've been through this before. And while it was nightmarish, you weathered the storm and came out stronger. Bottom line, YOU ARE A SURVIVOR. This is nothing more than a little speed bump. Stay positive (all you guys) and focused. And if you ever feel a need to talk privately I'm always available.

Ghost,

I remember your last slump, if memory serves me right...it was a rough ride before anything gainful. Didn't you meet the g/f during this time? ;)

Anyway, I think you'll do better this time around. The experience and contacts gained during this last job should help with any future prospects...

Good luck man,

BMED

YOSC, enjoy the layover...will you be posting any awesome recipes for grilled "Beans and Wieners" or blackened "Mac & Cheese"...they'll go great with that cheap beer! ;) trust me! :D

j/k good luck to you too!
