DSL Upgrade

Post by shilton »

I'm currently on a 384/128 connection and I recently put in the order to upgrade my service to 1.5 mb/512k and was wondering what the telco had to do to upgrade the account and how long it should take? Just wondering because it has been a couple days and wasn't sure how long to wait before I complain. ;-) Thanks

How do you know that you aren't getting the higher speeds now? Have you run a speed test?

Resync your modem. Unplug the Power, Then wait 30secs and plug it back in.

The phone company itself doesn't do anything inside the central office. Your bandwidth has to be changed via provisioning from a remote programmer. You should have been given a date that this would be done by, it usually takes about a week at most. A lot of companies got backed up to two weeks due to the recent power outage though. Remember, just because you upgraded to those speeds, you more than likely won't max out at that rate. It all depends on how far you are from the fiber. Don't be suprised to run a test and fall a little short of those numbers.
