not sure if it helps with the following

Use standalone NIC, or flash mobo. bios and verify mobo. network settings are correct in BIOS.

Most likely you have a line problem, if so you need to call your ISP. Also GET A FIREWALL! and scan for spyware with Ad Aware and SpyBot.

i had a line test done by my ISP, everything turned out fine, already scanned for spyware, also i used to use a firewall ( Zonwalarm 4 Pro) but removed it i case it was this that was causing the problems. it made no difference!

ovarall internet speed i cannot complain about, its just the disconecting part that annoys me :(

It's likely that ZA is causing the problem. Even if you uninstall it you need to follow the removal instructions on their site, it leaves A LOT of junk behind that causes problems.

Did you scan for spyware with Ad Aware & SpyBot?

This could also be because you are connecting vie USB. USB = PROBLEMS, buy an ethernet card and connect that way.
