Internal/external cat5 wiring/wallmount with router?

I'm currently paying for 2 different cable subscriptions because my cable company told me it was "impossible" to use a router in my house given the setup of the house and where I wanted to wire to and from. And I don't like the idea and cost of wireless (if it would even work in my house). So, I thought maybe I could wire it (Currently there's a coax wire stapled to side of the house from first floor around the side and up to 3rd, I thought i could just mirror that with an RJ45 wire instead).


First floor has the cable modem, router, computer1. I was thinking I could use these jacks for the 2 wallmounts and use about a 50 ft rj cable to wire the 2 wall mounts together. Then I would use a standard rj45 cable from the router to wall mount on the first floor, and another from the 3rd floor wallmount to computer2. Would that work to give my second computer a connection? The wallmount holes/plates already exist I would just repace them (or use a 2 hole plate) with RJ45 jacks instead of what they are (one wallmount has an F-pin (cable coax deal)on 3rd floor and the first floor has a phone jack mount )

Yes it will work...but if the wire outside is gonna be in the sunlight your gonna want to buy a good quality cat5 wire rated for outdoor use. Just be careful with the connections that you dont reverse any wires due to the numerous terminations and the fact that the wall jacks are wired opposite.

Normally the Blue Cat5 is rated for outdoor/indoor use and the gray stuff is for indoor use only. The Blue stuff is a little more expensive maybe $0.13 a foot as opposed to $0.07 a foot. Your diagram should work.
