Video Card for Gaming

Post by Tuz76 »

Hey guys,

I am new to video cards. I just wanted to know what you recommended would be better for gaming. I mean more in terms of FPS games.

Should I go for the Geforce FX series chipsets or should I go for the Radeon 9x00.

I definately cannot afford the latest ones such as 9800 etc.
I just wanted a mid-high/end range card that would excel in gaming (the system will be a 2.6GHz).

Also if you can indicate which brands *using those chipsets) to avoid I would really appreciate it.

Finally should I go for a 128 or a 256 card?

Im tossing up between a Radeon 9600 or an FX 5600. whats your advice?

Cheers,

Tuz

Radeon 9500 Pro or 9600 Pro (make sure to get the PRO), without question. 128 MB will be fine.

Ive seen some nice things about the NEW FX 5600 Ultra's, but the 9500 PRO is the king of all mainstream cards

Plus, its super hard to find the new 5600 Ultras....

So..

9500 Pro if you can find one, and 9600 Pro if you cant

the 9500/9600 kill all geforce 4s in any benchmarks with AA or AF in general, they are much better.

+ the 9500pro uses the 9700 chip overclocks like a champ Mines sitting at 344/310 9700 speeds

Just make sure you get the Pro.
