I have a laptop and bought it from frys and was wondering how do you check if you already have the service pack?
if not should i download it?
which one should i download?

Download all the available Critical Updates, then all the security-specific Windows XP Updates.
Service Pack 1 will be part of the Critical Updates.

does that mean i already installed it?
before i just ran windows update and downloaded all the critical ones

Right-click on My Computer and then select Properties.
It will tell you your version here:
