i have a seagate 40 gig hd that worked just fine then i took it out of one computer and put it in another to copy a file now in the other and mine it doesn't detect anymore ive done the jumpers right slave/master and it wont even detect in mine any ideas???
ha this happened to anyone else??
lol no im very protective of my parts almost to a annoying protective i think it shorted out or something cause the dinosaur 6 gig quantum detected and works just fine
i dont know what happened all the pins are ok
got me puzzled
see funny thing i just took it out of that computer that IDE cable everything then nothing like it dont exist then plug in another drive and it detects just fine
sorry i shoul d of said it was the bios that doesn't detect
it does the cd rom and the other hd i put in
my bios doesn't detect it either but see's mine
we both have ECS k7s5a motherboards and the same bios
The K7S5A is very particular about IDE devices. Try setting the second hard drive as cable select, OR set it as secondary master and slave the CD-Rom to the HD (its nto good but wont matter temporarily)
