GeForce 4200i - Use ASUS or Detonator drivers?

Post by purecomedy »

I've got an ASUS GeForce 4200i video card and I'm wondering if anyone has some experience using the drivers provided with the card (ASUS drivers) vs. the Detonator drivers on the NVIDIA website.

I'm noticing the same problem in Need For Speed Porsche as I did with my Riva TNT where the game freezes in the Normandie track. This track worked fine with my Voodoo 3 2000 card! I'm pretty ticked off, in 3 years they can't fix the drivers for NVIDIA based cards?

I also am noticing some weird slowdowns in the Alps track, although I think my Win2k OS is due for a re-install (might explain that one, works fine on my WinME partition).

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts...

Personally, i rarely use the drivers on a disk for the Vid card. I usually go to the site and d/l the latest drivers. You might want to try the 41.09's or the 40.72's for your particular os.
