I had the same thing happen when I did that to my brother's computer. He is not computer savy at all and did not know how to delete things he no longer needed.

He is a auto mechanic and can not believe how many people just get in their cars and start them and drive them ... with no knowledge of the vehicle or how it works.

I explained to him that he is one of those people ... the only difference is he is 'driving' his computer. :D

I cleaned out almost 1.5 GB of junk off of his computer ... from old programs that no longer worked ... to .temp files ... to .bak files ... to .old files ... old registry paths that went nowhere. It was loaded with junk. He called me because he said the computer seemed to be getting slower. At first I thought that he may have been just getting faster with it and thought the computer was slowing down.

It WAS the computer ... :D

Most I've seen on someone's computer that I've worked on is around 280...doesn't surprise me, with some of the surfing habits that some people have...
