Wallop to the head @ work

Post by brembo »

About spilled my brain all over the woods today. Fell on a metal rod, right in my ear. I slipped and tried to catch the fall with my metal detector amd fell into it...ear first. The corner went in the canal, and pinched a nice cut. So there I was bleeding outta my ear, in pain that blacked me out. Managed to stumble to the truck and get the bleeding under control. My left eye is acting all funny, and the ringing will not go away. If I can't focus better in a few hours I'm gonna head over to the E room and see whats up.

Damn this hurts. And I can't listen to my music well now, that REALLY bites. *gives gravity the finger*

Whoa, was this while working or just out hobbying?

If you were working definitely go to the ER.

If it was you out on a day off, don't wait too long if your vision doesn't improve.

Was it a cut or a puncture?

What kind of metal detector? :)

Dude...why wait at all? You suffered a trauma which caused you to black out! You need to go ASAFP buddy!

Why chance it?

Are you current on your tetanus shots?

Brembo...you might be an idiot but now you are borderline negligent....please, for your own welfare...go see a doc asap.

I was at work, but i hate workers comp paperwork. It pinched a cut, the edges are rounded, so it just pinched or tore some skin.

Its a Schondestat metal detector.

Here is a pic....Detector

Its the top one on the page.

I called a friend(doctor). He's commin over later to mess with his computer and he'll have a look at my noggin. I don't think I did anything bad, I've had worse hits and just kept a going. Its just that the ear is such a painful spot to get smacked. Besides, I'm regaining feeling and my eyes are cooperating better now.

I think the 60-70% slope. and rain had something to do with it. :D

Wet leaves and hidden logs will get ya everytime. I think wet leaf/slick log has a lower coefficient of friction than teflon does. You should know that, being that you hunt. I'm sure that a sideways stick has grabbed you a few times on slopes.

I think your pride was damaged more than that ear. lol

It doesn't appear that you had a penetrating wound into the canal itself.

Just have someone check it out to be safe. Probably will bruise up nicely by morning.

Hope you feel better dude. ;)

Pluck those hairs, clean that wax and get your fanny to a doctor! It doesn't matter what it looks like on the outside...

First off get a hair cut! ;)

It doesn't look too bad but we all know that the ear is extremely sensitive especially when you try to stick a metal pole up it. :D

Pack some ice on it, that should help.

How many fingers 'em I holding up? lol

Update:

Been around 8 hours since the whack, took a nap, and a nice hot bath. Head has cleared up, and vision is a okay. Still have a slight ringing, and the bit of jaw bone behind my ear hurts. But beyond that, I'm fine. My dad did always say I bounced back like rubber, but I'm gettin too old for such things, this hit really shook me up.

Gonna see if I can tolerate he ringing with music on.

Glad your feeling better. The ringing should go away. If not, get a girlfriend that likes to talk a lot. That should snuff out the ringing sound. :D

Get some sleep. ;)
