Some destroyed their lives with alcohol and do nothing except work a nothing job and smoke pot. I have also productive "POTHEADS" and "ALCOHOLICS". I can assure you that keeping this ban on pot will do nothing except put more people in jail. An individuals reaction and favoritism or the drug is solely based on how they were raised in my opinion. Maybe we need to address parenting instead of attempting to over shelter our youth. I personally see marijuana and alcohol as being equal on the level of danger if both were legal. Both would cause DWI and some job related injuries as alcohol does now. I do not believe that DWI would increase just the number of felonies would decrease.
I would disagree on that note, sure you can get a dwi with both, but the same could be said with prescription meds as well, e.i. pain killers, otc, or anything that may
dull the senses. It is all dependent on your vice of choice. Difference between alcohol and cannabis is one is lethal in itself and the other is not. If the general public would actually READ about cannabis itself (applies to everything) , the historical uses, its ld50 , the medicinal value and so on there wouldnt be such a problem because people would be educated on the issue. When it comes down to it one realizes the legality issue is based on
politics not
science. There are soooo many plants out there that can kill you really fast which are also used as an inebriant yet they are COMPLETELY legal and I can bet there are people on these boards that have them in their personal garden and do not even know it. But I do agree that all it does is put more and more people in jail, I would even go as far as to say it is just a business like everything else. I am not advocating any type of vice but I do advocate almost always on educating ones self on any and every subject before any judgement or opinion is made...or is that wrong and too much to ask...

people who smoke for recreation will continue to smoke whether this law is passed or not. they know it is a tap on the wrist if you get caught with an amount that is only for recreational smoking purposes.

Not even close to true. As soon as most understand they have to pass a pee test to keep their jobs...their marijuana days are long done.
Seems anymore, that's one hell of a lot of jobs.

When I made this thread I would have used a shorter title if I thought it'd get to so many pages.

True, or people can choose to find a new job, take an extended break from cannabis and just start after. What I find funny is I have only had to take a pee test when working a min wage job in college. The past 2 design/engineering jobs I have had they never brought it up or had any test. Not implying that I smoke but I wont ever work for a place that makes you pee in a cup because whatever I do
OUTSIDE of work so long as it doesnt interfere with my job, an employer really has no business or say in my life.

Sure I've heard of antioxidants. I'm drinking some right now.
Flying Fish, Merlot.
I've not heard of anything that actually can help you pass a pee test other than not smoking. Then again, I've never searched for a reason to do so.
How do you beat a random test anyway? You never know when they are coming.

As far as I understand it, it's nothing but time. Occasional smokers (once a month or longer) generally don't show up on a drug test after 48-72 hours. Frequent users (more than once a month) can take as long as three weeks to pass a test, depending on how frequent the usage.
If you have a job that requires random screenings, the best bet is just not to smoke, IMHO. Though it does suck that employers feel like they can regulate what you do off their clock.

shadow,
EXACTLY!!!! people, even with jobs will smoke because of the exact opposite of what you wrote.
as far as randoms, people carry things with them at all times. it is not like probation where they are eye to eye with your one eye to make sure there are no shenannigans.

i highly agree with that series of statements. I'm not very well educated on pot I am an extremely athletic person, very health and nutrition oriented, and do to my employer for the past few years I do not smoke pot. I believe the reason for outlawing pot correct me if i'm wrong was to push out Mexicans sometime in the early 1900's. It was on the history channel. I am interested to hear what some of those other plants are.

Dip your finger in Clorox (sodium hypochlorite), let it dry. Later, pee in cup, dip finger in cup...
It might even work...

So what would be the downside of legalizing marijuana. Will this affect the likelihood of you voting for this congressman and all those in favor?

A lot of people are not educated on it, REFUSE to be educated on it, and still believe reefer madness. People in general are just not responsible when it comes to any inebriant, whether it is legal or not so it turn it becomes something evil and dangerous. Also alot of people think with the herd mentality and dont like going against the grain on something like that because they may be looked down on by
society. But in the end are all these people even living their OWN lives or what others want them to be because of the social stigma, sad really that people care so much about what others think and basically get their lives controlled without even knowing it. They dont even know why they think they way they do or why they do the things they do..
