Epox 8RDA+ problem

Post by Blisster »

just installed my new 8RDA+ now when I power up the system, the lights come on and fans spin up for 1 second and then everything shuts down. Reset the PS and try it again same thing.
I've pulled everything out except the CPU and the same thing happens. Pull out the CPU (AXP1600) and everything spins up and it runs till I turn it off. Reinstalled memory and video card, and the same thing happens. When I put the CPU back on my other mobo (KR7A) its fine.

any ideas what might be causing this?
thanks.

This Might help:

Quick power on and power off, enough time to make the fans spin a couple times:
Unplug the fan connectors from the motherboard. One of your fans probably draws more startup current then the board likes. I personally have had this problem and it was fixed by removing a case fran from the system jumper near at the top of the board. Also if this doesn't fix it, try running the system outside of the case. If this fixes it, check the position of all your standoffs in the case.

This problem can also be caused by a weak power supply. If none of the above fixes have helped, see if you can borrow a power supply from another system or from a friend to see if yours just isn't strong enough for the board.

Yeah, could be your case shorting out your board.

figured it out, stupid little oversight (of course). I had my exhaust fan plugged into fan power lead #2 on the mobo which is set aside for the PSU fan (my psu doesn't have external fan control).
So I think it was tripping something and shutting down thinking that the PSU was overheating or something. Working fine now.
