3Com Office Connect Diagnostics

Post by egalitarian »

Hi ppl,
I have a question about a 3Com Office Connect cable modem (3CR29210)

I need to access the diagnostic page of the modem.
Does anyone knows the diagnostic url of this modem?
If not are there any other ways to measure my signal levels?
I'm asking this because I have a very high ping to the gateway of my ISP from a month (avg. 120ms). The support says that my signal level is ok but I really doubt it so I want to measure it myself.

Thanks in advance,
egalitarian

DO you have a Manual that came with your Modem? Since I have 3Com Home Connect it was in the Manual. Try Checking I am pretty sure it is there

Yes, I have the manual - both the printed and the PDF from their site. But there's not a single word about this matter there. I'm starting to think that there's not such feature in the Office Connect.

I will give you the Ip of homeConnect for configs.

If that dont work look in the manual for Configuring Your Cable Modem Section. It should be listed there

Thanks for your reply.
The address you gave doesn't work for the Office Connect and there's nothing written in the manual about such an address. I heard there is a program that does something similar...

Did you try contacting 3com about the docis for your modem? Maybe you should try

I've tried but the official statement on their site is that this model is dicontinued and is not supported any more. I've got all docs available for download there but there's nothing in them about this. That's why I'm asking for help here. I suspect that there's no such featrure in this model. I just hope that there's an external program that does this job...

I don't think this model has an internal web page.

You can try 192.168.100.1, or:

http://3comcable modem

or you can go here and try this program:

Hi, thanks for the advice but I couldn't make this program to work for me. There's a test on their page:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d.h. ... g/#cispdis

I did everything exactly as written but still docsdiag didn't gave me any output.

1. I set my ip to static 192.168.100.2 / mask to 255.255.255.0 and gateway to 192.168.100.1
2. Unplugged the cable modem
3. Unplugged the coax cable and plugged the modem back
4. Started docsdiag with no parameters

Result : No output at all. Is my modem is supported by this program? They're saying that if I don't have output at this stage there's something wrong. But if I return my ip to auto and plug the cable back then I'm back online so I don't know what could be wrong.

I'm still having the bad >120ms ping to the gateway. The support is saying that my levels are perfect and this problem occured a month before. What possibly could be wrong?

3Com Office Connect - Model No. 3CR29210
Running Windows XP Pro
I've run the test at speedguide :

http://forums.speedguide.net:8117/
All normal. My connection should be optimized...

Still having a big ping to the ISP's gateway

well, I have one, but I'm not having this problem...
it could simply be a defect, ask Loke if he had the same problems before Comcast gave him a replacement
