too bad youll never need this much power..

and in about 2 months itll be obsolete..

with 5k i would build 5 good pcs and have a nice lan goin.. where your friends could just jump in and start playing.. that would be nice ;)

heh, good point. But just like buying a car, you can spent $100k on a Porsche while u can get 5x Maxima with it and let everyone in ur family have a car. It won't be as good performance as a porsche. Spending $5k on 5 PC, each PC will be nothing close to what Armo's suggested comp. Just a comment heh.

Do yuou need monitor, speakers also or just the box?
Also I believe even if you go with Armo's suggested setup, it shouldn't cost u $5k after everything :)

yeah, but an OC'ed Ti4200-4600 will do you good for the next 2 years or so..

Or ya could just get a 9700 pro, and you could still build 5 good pcs with monitors.. damn. i wish i had 5k.

since you have so much to spend.... no need to have to OC.... you'll be able to buy parts that are powerful enough....

you should wait til some serial drives come out... get an ABIT IT7max2 with a p4 3.0, 1 gig pc3200

two serial 80 gig drives in RAID 0

audigy2

Radeon 9700

but really.... whats he going to be doing with it.... gaming? business? play card games... or all the latest shooters....

with 5000 a dual flat panel display would be extremely nice and very much in range.

i mean you also wouldnt need RAID to use access or excel.... two special edition drives would be fine for that......

or is your pops buying a computer and you will be using it lol..... i say build a comp worth 2500 and pocket the rest..... for college... lol.... let us know the use.... because things like RAID and the 2 gigs of RAM would be useless if hes playing card games or running some OLD dos program as his billing....

also does that amount of money include buying ALL software.... cause if you want a legit copy of office that'll run you from 350 to like 600 depending on the version

maybe so, but that's a processor that's designed to do one thing and one thing only, not run a dynamic OS.
