LINKSYS BEFSX41 PROBLEM RESOLVED...

Post by crazyjw1971 »

OK. Ummm.

I have a new Linksys BEFSX41 Router and I'm having a serious problem getting voice chat and video chat to work properly.

Per Microshafts instructions, I re-enabled UPnP and SSDP Discovery services on my PC (WinXP). I enabled the UPnP functions on my router. My LAN is in static mode, no DHCP. My PC's IP is 192.168.1.100. No port forwarding (not needed according to MS).

I STILL CANT CONNECT TO VOICE OR VIDEO CHAT!

If ANYONE on this board has any advice, please respond.

Thank you.

Ooooops...

I found out that I was running MSN Messenger. Now Im running Windows Messenger. Duh...

Now... with firmware 1.44, when someone accepts a voice chat or video chat connection with me, the damn router reboots itself. Does anyone have a copy of the old firmware? 1.43 possibly?

Does anyone else have this problem with this firmware revision?

I requested that Linksys send me a copy of firmware revision 1.433 for my BEFSX41. I "downgraded" the firmware and everything is OK!

Stay away from BEFSX_1.44!

If you need old firmwares, go directly to ftp.linksys.com they are all there.
