Well, as of tomorrow AT&T Cable Television and Broadband no longer exists. It becomes a part of Comcast and will be know by that name. Thus far, 1,700 layoffs have been announced. It seems unlikely that much of significance will happen until Comcast gets their arms around it.
As for the routing, that is not unusual and not apt to change. If Comcast(AT&T Broadband) and the ISP for the server do not peer in Boston already they are not likely to in the future. It costs a fortune, perhaps upwards of $100,000, and there has to be a good financial incentive for them to spend that kind of money.

HEDO,
I am having similar problems, and I am based in western mass. I too get the boston-new york- boston trips....the wierdest one is the boston-newyork-virginia-pennsilvania. i don't understand routers like I think i should i guess.
I am seeking the answers to your same question HEDO. most of my friends with broadband really do not mind the slow and sloppy service they have.....they actually do not even think it to be a problem, because anything is better than dial up. just sucks to be in MA i suppose.

yeah man.. where abouts in wmass? i live in greenfield.
also i use my cable for online games and when my ping is just as high as a 56k it makes me angry. the fact that somtines there is little difference between 9.99 internet and $ 50 internet.
so nobody here has anything on att or comcast for that matter? no servers down no bulidings on fire cause thats how bad my ping is... id expect it to be somthing big.
