It is a rip off.
Instead of 1500/256 you get 3000/384. Thats not much more upload. And the download. Well unless you intend to download all the time, its not worth it, besides many sites can't give you that speed, except commercial sites.
Now here is the bad part. Even though you have higher caps, when the Metropolitin area is saturated you're hosed just like everybody else.
For several weeks in Seattle, now, during Prime Time, about 4 hops out on a Seattle ATTBI.COM 12.xxx.xxx.xxx server my latency jumps from 12 ms at hop 4 to 300ms at hop 5.
AT&T claims thats normal. And sure you can still upload and download at the max speed. But online gaming is DEAD, I say DEAD at those ping rates, even for Ultima Online which sends very very little data across the internet compared to some other games with home based servers running for a dozen or more players.
It is worthless to think that you will get better service than what you are already paying for...unless they gaurantee you're on a different backbone than the rest of attbi.com customers in your area!!!

My AT&T is great for a couple months at a time, then out of nowhere a problem pops up. Like this current Prime Time Latency issue I have with an ATTBI.COM server in the Seattle backbone.
It takes me a couple months of checking in every day before I finally get some help with these problems when I find them.
I have 12 MS latency to Hop 5 on our system and Hop 6 on our system, Still in the AT&T metropolitin block of servers jumps to 200 to 300+MS every night from anywhere around 5pm until about midnite.
I have a techs email addy, but I am sure he has me on his "Spam" filter as he never responds to my trace routes I send him, religiously, every day!
My service is ccompletely Normal right now. But it's Friday afternoon and only 3:30pm. In about 3 hours it will be saturated 5 hops away from me, which means all of the Service in Seattle is saturated due to this Hop. Not just my neighborhood node!!!

I live in Brazil, and our Internets are so different, that they would give it another name.
Well, how many of you possible know, Brazil is a very large country.
I live about 4000km (or even more) from the server of TF that a play, and my ping its about 80...
And I play UO, too. It's about 90 - 100 my ping on the UO server...
But here, a 2mb ADSL cost about R$ 600... (1 R$ should be about 3,50 U$). Is very rare to saw a PERSON who got those speedcap. The normal is 256k.
Another thing very different... here you sau that cable modem is better than DSL. Here, the ADSL is SOOO MUCH better than cable that can't get in my head how there is worse.
Why those differences? Anyone knows?
And I wanna help tweaking my cable, please
my caps 256/256... thanks
