jumped from a C-130 and from 17,000' AGL...

Post by mountainman »

Hey everyone. I've been down in Richmond, IN since Friday at the Richmond Boogie. It was a great time and I ended up making only seven jumps. They were very fun though!!

On Saturday, Laura and I jumped from a C-130 doing about 130 knots (~150mph) and then today, we made a jump from a little under 17,000' AGL.

We got pictures and video. I'm going to have to get them digital (VHS to digital and then 35mm on to CDs from the developers). I'll be sure to post all that stuff here.

The video was done by Orly King - 3 time freefly champion (from what I've heard). Anyway, it was a great weekend and I can't wait to get back there and jump some more.

Also, we ordered some new freefly suits. Woohoo!!! :)

kewl, can't wait to see the videos.

You'll have to take a jump for me, I don't think my old ticker could take the rush of adrenelin. Sounds like a fun sport though.
Even the plane rides would make for a great day out.

That sounds great Jumpinduo! I cant wait to see the video and the pics.

Ghost, I would think any higher than that and you would need the O2.

BTW...what does AGL stand for or mean?

Above Ground Level.

As opposed to ASL, you know what that is.

never been able to figure why someone would jump out of a perfectly good airplane. :p (j/k)

have thought about making a jump for some time. just have never found the time.

would be interested in the pics/vids, though. sounds like a blast.

now, all you need to do is go for the highest freefall record (100,000+ feet). that would be a rush.

Hey guys. It was definetely a rush. The cost for each jump was $19, however the C-130 jump cost about $60 since it was pretty much a "novelty" plane. It is the only civilian C-130 set-up for jumpers in the whole country. Sure was sweet. :)

As far as the 17k, you are supposed to take oxygen at anything above 15k ASL. So, we were probably at 18k ASL or so. Ah well. ;) It was fun and the video is great.

I have all 35mm and VHS media right now, so I have to get them all over to digital. God, I can't wait to get our own miniDV.

Later all!
