A Flyer's wet dream
A Flyer's wet dream
I was driving home from Walmart a few minutes ago, and saw a B-17 AND a B-25 flying formation right over me at about 500 feet!! Don't know where they were going or where they went, don't even really care...just a very cool thing to see

I don't know the exact stats, but I think there are only maybe a couple of dozen B-17s still flying today...if that...so to see one in flight and not at an airshow is pretty amazing

Prolly Rantoul, IL or came from there. This past week Rantoul, IL has been hosting the World FreeFall Convention. The 2 planes were also in Danville, IL for show and were giving rides for the day. Maybe they were heading from over there...maybe, but who knows, heheOriginally posted by Indy

You know Indy, I think I may have saw one of those planes over my house on Friday. I was watching tv and heard something real loud and thought it was Lifeline flying into St. Vincent's, but when I got to the window, I just saw a very large plane flying REALLY REALLY low (like 500 feet), but it was too far for me to see exactly which type. It was probably the B-17 because of its size. At first I thought maybe it was a C-130 but it was too long and narrow. I also saw one of those really old and ugly Sikorsky CH-34's flying right along side of me on 86th St on Friday afternoon. Maybe there was a big air show close by. You never see old warbirds around here unless something's going on.
