Sympatico High Speed Questions

Post by UpRiSe »

Hello,

I've just ordered Sympatico High Speed and I was wondering what kind of connection it was. Is it DSL? ISDN? or a type of connection on it's own?

My town population is only 8,000 and High Speed is the only broadband option I have. :(

Furthermore I was wondering if there were tweaks so that I could have more bandwidth or any other ways to speed it up.

Thanks in advance,

Sympatico's caps are 960/120 and it's DSL, I'm not sure if it's normal or PPPoE. Please post a TCP/IP Analyzer test and we'll give you some settings to try. :)

should look like this
TCP options string = 020405b40103030401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which equals MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 730000
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 4 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 45625
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 29200 kbps (3650 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 11680 kbps (1460 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 56 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Please click in my signature where it says Test tweak here, then:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speed Guide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you. :)

Good god... you speak as if I'm a complete retard.

I know my computers from the inside out. I've just rare experience with networks.

I know how to find, copy, and paste all my things with just my keyboard shortcuts.

UpRiSe download the TCPOptimizer and try the following:

check - custom settings
network adapter selection - your NIC
check modify all adapters
maxmtu - 1480
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window - 14400/17280/23040/28800/36000/59040
MTU Discovery - yes
Black Hole Detect - no
Selective Acks - yes
Max Dup ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 Options - uncheck both boxes*
(* if using TCP Receive Window of 65535 or higher check windows scaling)

Other Settings tab:

Max Connections per Server - 10
