Truth.com preachers<rant>

Post by Jameser »

Went to buy a pack of smokes. And some lifeless troll is just hanging out at the Krispykreme doughnut rack. Looking for the unsuspecting cigarette buyer(me).

"Excuse me" the troll ask's "are those smoke's for you?" I gave him a "yes" in a tone that says bug off. "Are you planing on dying?" I just walk on my marry way.

But, WTF? I know smoking is not healthy. Neither is alot of things we do. Do you eat MickeyD's well those fries are clogging your arteries. Lay out in the Sun? ever hear of skin Cancer. Do you Drive, well you can get killed doing that.

Anyway's like I said I know smoking is stupid. I plan on quitting. But I need to do it when i'm ready. And not for some truth.com troll. That has nothing better to do then hang out at a Mobil gas station. Sorry just had to rant.

Sounds like that idiot has a pathetic life. I feel sorry for him. I know I would have given that idiot a piece or two of my mind.

I have to agree. Yes smoking is harmful to your health but what does he care (the troll). As long as your actions are not harming anyone else in anyway then you should what you want without being percecuited(sp). By the way I am a non-smoker.

Well, you could say second hand smoke is harming you. But I try to be as considerate as possible, in public areas. I will go out side, if noone else in a resturant is somking.

Personally, I don't smoke, and I don't care if others smoke. The thing I do care about is people who try and force their beliefs on me. I think it's just one big power trip for the troll...

"I don't smoke, so I'm superior to you and I can belittle you because I see you're buying cigarettes."

See what I mean?

I wonder if the truth.com people realized what would happen to their taxes, and everyone elses, if they succeeded in getting everyone to stop smoking. I say we need more smokers so I don't have to pay more taxes. YEAH Sin tax. Besides, it's each persons choice to smoke and it is no mystery what it can do to you.

My reply to such folks is:

"Its also bad for your health to point out to smokers that it's killing them."

I let em chew on that for a second, until they realize that was a veiled threat. Then smile and walk off.

What if the guy is twice your size, and has a bad attitude?

Do you still use veiled threats :D

Next time, explain that sticking one's nose into others business is a lot more harmful to one's health than smoking.

Good thing it wasn't me. I'm not a violent man.....most of the time. :D

Norm, you doin okay? Feisty tonight eh?

The majority of folks that mention that my affinity for nicotine will end up with me pushing up daisys, are wormy little folks. Ya know the type, the holier than thou bunch.

Never had a big dude pester me about smoking, I guess I'd swallow my pride and slink off. I dunno, might offer a smoke, who knows?

Did you say something? ;)

That troll almost sounded like a religious zealot trying to convert the savages...nothing ticks me off more than someone trying to force their views on me...

Could some of this hostility be due to the realization that the guy has a very valid point?

It is annoying nannyism though. I'll always support anyone's right to smoke as long as I don't have to breathe it.

I agree with you Torsten, you shouldn't have to breath smoke under any circumstances. If smokers want to smoke, they should do it where it won't affect non smokers.

Smokers seem to think they have a right to smoke anywhere they feel fit to, but as a smoker I feel it's improper to smoke around those who don't, especially those who don't want you to.

hate the commercials. hate the website. hate people who wont let a man (or woman) slowly kill him/themself if he so desires.

what i like is the idea of not exposing others to it (especially children). i am 100% all for that and subscribe to it wholeheartedly. just as i wouldn't like a Mogolian slave trader to come and sit behind me at McDonalds and start hitting a hookah packed full of shredded passenger car tires, i would be wrong to infringe on others' space in a similar way.

but if i am sitting on outside on a park bench having a smoke, don't come up and sit down on the opposite end and then complain about the me smoking a cigarette. in my life, i have had to tell 2 people to "shut the hell up" for this exact reason (well, one was outside the mall). i was here first, damnit. if you were here first i would go find somewhere else to smoke.

at any rate all i can say is "if you smoke, you should probably quit," (my hypocritical side showing as yes, i do smoke), "and if you dont smoke, for God's sake don't start!"

Ditto...

Wow I'm suprised by the amount of response I got for my 1st post. Walked away from the Computer. 18 hours later 2 pages of postings.

I think I should have said something, but like was posted earilier by someone. I was shocked that someone is asking me about my decision to by cancer-in-a-box.

But time to walk away from the computer for a bit, it's a great day out, My car needs a washing, and my lungs need a smokin. Take care all.
