too loud, 45 dB

trying to keep it under 40dB

though i do like the 53cfm

is it a loud scream like the delta fans? or more of a deep roar?

if your going for a 80mm based HS/F, I say go with the Alpha PAL8045. A very solid choice. As for the fan, the delta that comes with the heatsink is surprisingly quiet, it have like 50cfm output and something like 35dba. Very quiet for such a high rate CFM.

if you want a heat sink with 60mm fan and can wait a little, the new thermalright slk600 looks real nice. Right up there with the ax, 7+ & 8045

preview here

hey perhaps you could even review one!

that is what i run and it is not loud at all, remember your cpu fan is inside of your case so the other fans sort of muffle it.

of course you knew that , just a nOOb's opinion here :D

I have the 8045 with the 80 Delta. Hell, my Cheetahs growl louder than the fan could ever... ;)

Seriously, it isn't as loud as you would think... And it isn't a high pitched irritating sound.
If you want it to be as cool as air can get it, go with the Alpha... JMHO... Figure ~$50 retail box...
