CS Low ping, Low FPS

Post by Azn_Boy007 »

There is something wrong with my CS....I get a low ping, like 69 average, and I sometimes get a high FPS, like looking at a wall, but I get these weird lag things where i am running forward, suddenly I pop back to where i was, and start running again, and pop back again, it happens several times, before it stops. Then after like 30 seconds....it starts again. I was wonder is there something wrong with my video card...or is there something wrong with my internet Connection (cable).
OS: XP
Ram: 256 SDRAM
Memory: 40 gig
CPU: P3 Clocked at 1050
Video: Nvidia Geforce 2 MX 400 32mb
Connection: Cable
....i dunno what else to put...
Thanx

what you have described sounds alot like packet loss, however i'm a relative newbie to high bandwith connections and I also have no experience with CS/HL so I cant really tell you what you could try to solve it.

Sounds like lag spikes to me. Have you tried any other servers?

Thanx for replying.....I tried many different servers.....But its all still the same. I downloaded the Cablebut program...it seems to help a bit, the poping back doesn't seem to happen as often now, but it still does. DOES ANY ONE KNOW HOW TO FIX PACKET LOSS???

i had the EXACT same problem, at first i thought it was lag on the severs end, but it happened on ALOT of servers.

i suggest updating your video drivers, i'm running a GF2 GTS and the 28.80 drivers for it and they work like a charm, no more problems. give it a try, i hope it works for you.

if u have cable try

rate 8500
cl_cmdrate 100
fps_max 100
fps_modem 0
cl_updaterate 100
