Insightbb Activator

Post by GrandFlash13 »

Is there any reason why you would need to install and run this program to connect? Insightbb is what took over for @home in my area. I believe they are part of at@t, not sure though. With my router I can connect with just my account name and obtain IP automatically but I have a friend who can't connect with his computer unless he uses the activator. Both of us have Windows XP. I haven't seen what his settings are exactly but he said he couldn't get it to work until he installed the software.

Thanks

If you can, try to get connected without using the auto configurator.

Your right about InsightBB. They are using ATTBI's network for there own service. I can't complain about there speed. I'm getting the exact speeds I was getting with @home.

Yeah, I'm not complaining either. My connection actually seems a little faster. I personally don't need to use the activator but my friend did. I'm not sure if he did it wrong or if there was something that they did that was making it so you had to use it, which doesn't seem right to me because I don't use it. Just curious if anyone has heard anything about it.

The Insightbb activator is generally used once to establish an account in the new system. If your friend is having problems, it may take a call to Insight to resolve them. Before calling, have him check in IE, tools/internet options/connections/LAN settings--both the boxes for Automatically detect settings and use a proxy server should be cleared. You may want to run a winipcfg release/renew after. Hope this helps!

I remember reading a thread about that somewhere, just cant remember what forum I saw that in.... Anyways, I don't think you will be able to change the files back over, basically your screwed :( I hope you backed up most of your files from time to time. Including all your mp3's.
