News from my Eye Doctor...

Post by Ken »

Well, the infection from the metal that was causing me great pain has healed up nicely, Dr. Paulter said. :)

However, the pressure in my good eye has been running high, so he has refered me to a glaucoma specialist, Dr. Layden...
This is not very good as I have been being treated for glaucoma in my good eye as well as my blind eye, for several months now.

The medicine that I am currently using, Alphagan, costing $100 per month, doesn't appear to be able to control it to a reasonable pressure.
I sure pray that I do not wake up blind in my good eye, like it happened to me with my now blind eye...

Thanks all! It is deeply appreciated! :)

As most of you know, I have experienced a lot in my life.
I try to not let things bother me and try to always see or find good in everything...

This does bother me as if the same thing happened to my good eye, I would be 100% blind, way beyond legally blind...With-out warning...
At this point I can only wait and pray as many people depend on me and my support.
If I lost my good eye, it would be catastrophic to many "helpless" people...
I could handle it myself, but couldn't bear the fallout that others would suffer...

downhill said everything I was going to, so I won't further complicate the matter.

You know I pray for all of us. I'm unsure of what tests these are that we are to be passing, but I hope none of us fail them. :(

Hope everything works out ok for you Ken. I've heard of people successfully treating glaucoma with marijuana but don't know if that is an urban myth or what. It also has other obvious perils but then so does going completely blind.

Ken, I hope everything will be fine with your sight. I'd really hate to see you struck with more misfortune, you've had enough of it already in your life. I wish I could do something about it. You're in my thoughts bro.

That was already suggested a little bit back. I think someone said that MJ does indeed have a positive effect on glaucoma patients, but less than other medication, which of course makes MJ the worse alternative.

Ken. I recently read about a new procedure that uses a pinpoint laser to open the drainage ducts for, I believe, a permanent solution. Don't know whether it's approved or not. I think it was in Scientific American but not certain about that.

I think you should ask about it.

Hey THANKS everyone!!! I really appreciate it!

I go to the Orthopedic guy tomorrow at 1 to get the "flesh eating marine bacterial infection" cut or whatever. Geez, just saying the name makes me out of breath! I am afraid that it has now started in the cut that was on the end of my middle finger...

Now this afternoon, my blind eye has been hurting me again. Rosa says that it is very red. I may end up having to go back to my retina doc tomorrow as well.

I need to set up something with the glaucoma doc too.
Geez, the doctors! Oh well, it could be worse!

I gave Rosa a rain check on our anniversary today. We will celebrate it at a later date.

Thanks again all!! :)

Orthopedic guy? Hell, he's just a carpenter. ;) Whatever it takes, get that infection stopped! From what I've read lately, it moves rapidly and is really nasty.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I'll be sure to sacrifice two chickens tonight during my daily voodoo ritual......ohhhhhh...I'm sorry...did I say that?

I sure hope this eye problem of yours gets rectified soon. For about $100...I can do the operation for ya. I promise to use my sterilized bowie knife and my rubber kitchen gloves. I will even throw in the aspirin for free! For $10 more you get the deluxe package....you keep the eye!

:D

you know damn well I wish nothing but the best for ya man. I sure wish there was something I could do for ya. I hate being sick and I hate seeing other people down as well. Get well soon.
