Inconsistant Service

Post by hatchet »

I have Comcast Cable Service and have had it for almost 2 years. Most of the time I am satisfied with their service. However, since the changeover my service has been very inconsistant. I'm guessing most everyone else has about the same story. Does anyone have any idea how long this rollercoaster ride is going to last? I am getting a little tired of having service one minute and gone the next. Is there anything I can or should do other than just try to be more patient?

OK......I feel much better now. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Well, there's sure nothing much you can do. It is a new network, with a lot of problems.

If your problem is that you are being disconnected, then that may not be caused by the general difficulties at Comcast, and it might be worth a phone call.

Kip, thanks! I guess I probably knew that, but just needed to vent a little. Please feel free to delete this post. It doesn't really contribute anything to this Forum. I just get a little frustrated trying to keep up with this networking stuff, especially since it seems to be changing a lot at the moment. I'm sure we will all survive this.

I had the same problems recently after the switch, but, I gotta say this, as of the last week or two, speeds have seemed to increase with Comcast and the service has been a lot more consistent than before....especially the email. They probably just need more time to work out the bugs.

I've been having similar problems since they made the full switch on Thursday. I waited and finally decided to load the software that they sent me. Which did not help. My download speed was 40kbs and not the usual 180-220 or so. I am an online gamer and play counter-strike, but can't now because of my speed I usually get kicked out (with pings of 550-800, I would too). I finally decided to call them last night. The tech mentioned right away that their network does have problems and that they are working on it. I do not use comcast newsgroup or e-mail, just their internet. The guy said that the problems will take time and that things will go back as they were with supposedly better internet speed. I asked him how long and he said he was not too sure but that things should look better in a week or so.

My speeds have been much better since the change over with MediaCom. I was lucky to hit 200 kbps before then. I had no idea the change over had even happened yet until I was at an interview for a help desk postition with MediaCom about a week ago and they told me I was switched. I never use their email and never downloaded their software for this change over. What is this software supposed to do? I did set up my email which is now working.
