I'm a NEW subscriber to Comcast Am I in danger of them invading my surfing privacy?? If ANYONE out there that is SURE they are invading the user's privacy, please let me know, I'm going to take this to court with my attorney. I'll turn the company into ComcASS if they;re screwing around.
Also, if you know any way to get around them spying on me, let me know too, any help would be well appreciated.
This is what I got when I ran net stat.

I looked at your web site. You're complaining about Comcast? Please remove it from your signature.
I'd suggest that you start with your local library. Get a book on the internet and understand how it works and what those entries mean. That's you contacting Comcast, not them contacting you.

Not my intention to offend you..
Sorry if my signature offended you. It's a legit business of mine, but will take it off as you request.
I'm looking deeper into this Comcast matter and see where it will take me..
Thanks for your advice..

My take on this:
1. Proxys suck and a borderline invasion of privacy.
2. The AP sucks and often engages in subjective reporting.
You have to read between the lines.
The fact is that with @Home, you could refuse to install the software and now the proxy is not optional. So did Comcast 'begin tracking' customer info? No....they have been doing that since day 1, along with every other ISP. They took away your option to not participate, which does suck.
It says 'in some cases' that it may be possible for the proxy to capture credit card info.....Think about it: You could write a web page such that your credit card info was not encrypted and posted in the web form that got cached in the proxy. Of course this could happen with any other transparent proxy. That's how the AP works.....is it possible that this could happen....yes....so let's report it. Is it objective reporting? No.
AOL, Earthlink and Time Warner have 35m customers and a lot of bank.....hmmm....surely they couldn't influence the AP. Sure 'they' don't collect customer info. 'They' pay third party companies to do it for them.
The AP simply printed its usual subjective reporting that is the 'truth' only as far as it is legally defensible as such.
Proxys suck.
The AP sucks.
Comcast sucks insofar as you no longer can bypass the proxy....but that fact alone is the only thing that has changed. Is it newsworthy? Probably. Is it as sensational as the AP article that has inspired all this banter? Probably not.
I would be interested to see what this AP reporter's stock portfolio looks like.....or maybe he was up against a deadline.....whatever. It's definitely not objective reporting. Articles like this are why I don't watch the news or subscribe to the paper.
