Allocating memory for NIC

Post by clevelandjim »

A year or two ago, there was a web page on here which talked about increasing the amount of memory that Windows allocated to the network card.

I can't seem to find that page. Does anyone remember the page or can describe how to do it?

Thanks.

OK, I didn't look hard enough for it. I found the tweak at

http://www.speedguide.net/Cable_modems/cable_irq.shtml

What are others' experience with this tweak?

Thanks.

Not all people do, quoted from the page:

We have tested numerous times and it shows anywhere between 0 and 10% performance gain, which we consider inconclusive. We have received over 100 responses saying this tweak worked great, and over 100 saying it does nothing at all. At this time, we feel we should leave the information posted on the site in order to present our readers with all possible options for optimizing their throughput, however keep in mind we haven't been able to find a proof of the validity of this particular tweak, and are not fully confident in the following information.

It hasn't even been proven to work 100% all the time, so your probably better off reallocating the ram back to where Windows needs it the most
