certain server/country connection problems..

Post by crazy »

Thank you for your time to look, and answer my questions.Any help is much appreciated. If I am posting in an inappropriate place, please redirect elsewhere or delete this post.Thank you for your time.

I have a site in Sweden testing my connection and it only goes about 10-60k .They are FXP to me.
I havent a problem FXP elsewhere.
I live in Arizona, and both of my friends too,and both my friends ip's starts with 24.xxx.xx.xxx , one lives only 3 houses away, and the other lives 20 miles away, mine starts with 65.x.xxx.xxx ,but they can get around 150-300k to this same site while mine bounces between 10-60k,20k average .
My computer is WAAYYY faster then thiers and one has that lame dialup 2-way cable but yet he still can blow me away on this Sweden connection. The one closest to me has full-cable and still gets the same download speeds as 2-way cable.Niether of them take care of thier computers and in Arizona its quite dusty and dirty air and I clean dust bunnies out at least once a month, while they let it stack up and clog their heatsinks and fans.
I don't understand why this is,they both don't use cable nut or tweak anything and have slower computers and take no care of thier box.
I have tried with and without cablenut.Cablenut seems to be faster at a rate of 10-60k,without its about 5-25k .I have even tried setting my MTU at different values, and setting my cablenut settings to the way LOBO, (I believe it was LOBO) showed me back in April .

SOME " Sonet " connections are slow, but for the most part all other Swede connections are fast and normal (BBB,Bonet) .

It wracks my nerves to know that I have full cable with 3.5/312 speeds when one of them got 2.5/28.8 (2 way cable) and the other with same thing I have, only 3 houses down, can whoop me on the downloads...especially when they dont take care of thier equiptment.
Grrrrrr.....

Is it because of the routing system or whatnot ?? 24.xxx.xx.xx is better then 65.xx.xx.xxx ????
That really sucks if thats the answer....Ill just cancel my good cable and go with lame dialup 2-way cable ,cuz this is stupid and rediculous. Is there a certain setting I can set to have better Swede connections?

Im going to go nuts if I cant resolve this situation.
Plz help someone ......I am desperate.....

BTW I sent a whole 5 bucks to cablenut on my own free will, because it is a great program.
5$ is all my broke-ass could afford. At least its something hey?

Who is your service provider?

Also, take the SG TCP/IP Analyzer test located here http://forums.speedguide.net:8117/ and copy and paste the results here in a reply to this thread. Please X out your IP address.

I have Cox@home for my ISP .
Here is my info for using default "fast 2k" within cablenut .

TCP options string = 020405b4010303000101080a000000000000000001010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1448, which is less than MSS because of Timestamps, or other TCP/IP options used.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = OFF

Time to live left = 113 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = ON
Note: Timestamps add 12 bytes to the TCP header of each packet, reducing the space available for useful data.

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

In adjuster set enable PMTU discovery to 1
Tcp1323Opts to 0

Thanks for the help guys.
I tried the above and then did an FXP test.
Still bounces around from 10-60k .

I then found out the source ip address and it was BBB (bredbandsbolaget.se) .
I know for a fact I used to get great speeds from BBB lines.
Correct me if im wrong,BBB is like 10mbit both ways.
I have a couple of other friends over there with BBB,and I ran a speed test on 3 different BBB lines.
Still exactly the same,30k average.
It starts out like 90-140k for the first minute or so,then blows down to like 2k then up and bouncin between 10-60k ,with a 30k average.

Is there something I am doing wrong?
I know I got better speeds from BBB,im 100% positive .
The only difference was I had a USB network card back then.

Thanks for all your help.

Isn't 64 headed a DSL Address?

If so, he might have got a better package, and your rwin should be higher than 64240, start with 256960 and work your way up. You can do so by using the SG Optimizer.
