System not posting

Post by Crimson »

I have a weird problem, after i shut my system down for the night or so, it never posts when i boot it up again. When it doens't post (sometimes no beep, sometimes normal beep) all i do is reset it and it posts and boots up fine.

Any ideas? System spec in sig

Thanks in advance,
Crimson

Make sure that all of the hardware is firmly seated into it's slot. If you are overclocked, back the settings down or reset them back to the "normal" settings.

sure you checked already, but did you check the CMOS clear jumper yet? What sounds like it's happening is that your bios doesn't like something you done, can you list what you've recently implemented in the bios?
Intel Core 2 Duo Q8300 2.55Ghz (1333mhz)
Asus P5N-D
OCZ Platinum 8gb (2x2gb) PC8000 1000mhz 5-5-5-18

a)Im pretty sure all my hardware is seated properly because once it boots everything works like a charm.

b)I havne't touched the bios yet, its the bios that came with the board, should i flash?

c)I did change all the memory settings to most aggresive (even those "#T" settings) because i wasnt pleased with my mem bandwidth. And come to think of it, this problem started occuring about the time i did that. Ill revamp those changes and see what happens

One thing i was thinking of is that all my fans (including fan on hsf)are connected to the PS and maybe the bios isnt liking the empty fan 1 jack that the cpu/hsf fan "should" be connected to, although i highly doubt it since most fans today draw more power than those wimpy mobo jacks provide:P

Many thanks
Crimson

edit:my mem= (2) 256 ocz pc2400 sticks rated 222
so it 'should' run at those settings
