Question about monitor refresh

Post by Crimson »

I currently have my monitor set to 120hz @ 800x600 resolution. Inside a game i play at 1024x768 resolution (the resolution is selected within the game - my desktop config is still 800x600 @ 120hz). Now my question is when i run that game at 1024x768 is it running at 120hz? The highest hz my monitor can support at 1024x768 is 100hz.

Im on a viewsonic pf790

i have the same monitor and at that res. it runs at the same 100hz. just use the buttons on the monitor to tell, go to view meter on the second page it will say.

Beware

of setting the refresh rate too high as it can damage the monitor perminately. One of the greater signs of it being already damaged is a high pitched eeeee noise.

Ya, I don't think running the refresh rate at 120Hz using an 800*600 resolution....sure it might work but it might not be good.... ;)

the pf790 is the professional series from viewsonic...it can handle those refresh rates. its a great monitor. actually it can go higher than he has it set.
