I currently have my monitor set to 120hz @ 800x600 resolution. Inside a game i play at 1024x768 resolution (the resolution is selected within the game - my desktop config is still 800x600 @ 120hz). Now my question is when i run that game at 1024x768 is it running at 120hz? The highest hz my monitor can support at 1024x768 is 100hz.
Im on a viewsonic pf790

Beware
of setting the refresh rate too high as it can damage the monitor perminately. One of the greater signs of it being already damaged is a high pitched eeeee noise.

Ya, I don't think running the refresh rate at 120Hz using an 800*600 resolution....sure it might work but it might not be good....
