I know the facts. I've been there and bought the t-shirt. Saw it first hand. The government would not even accept my Veterans Disablity card for VA treatment. Nuff said!

Something you have no idea about. I didn't go into the military to blow s**t up or to collect a pay check you arrogant a**.

Actually GS we do have a department of veteran affairs, My father was served very well by them, they do provide a great deal of assistance medical and otherwise for vets that were injured while in the service.Originally posted by GoldenSpoon

When he was dieing of cancer, we were able to get hospital beds, bath lifts, meds and many more things due to the fact that he was a vet. Over the years I also saw my father gain these benifits for many other vets.
Add to that our public health care system vets here are not out in the cold, unless they expect this treatment without asking or prooving need.

Again, maybe not you (though YOU SAY YOURSELF "to get off the streets, better my life, education, college funding" and HAPPENED to learn respect, honor and CND. pride, HAPPENED)
So, selfish reasons, not to "defend what we stand for"
Typical of most military people, irrespective of country.
Making my point for me, Thanks!

the military is a job like any other, you get paid for it and you know the risks to begin with. if you die, you do it defending your country whether you joined with the ideal to defend the country or hopes of being able to play GI Joe

American Pride is something your born with black, white or whatever You don't automatically have it once you immigrate you a**. It's something that you have to earn as a immigrant. Something you have yet to prove here on the forum.
Selfish reasons, hhahahahahahahahaha
I'm a bit suprised you haven't called us vets baby killers or something. Your views on the Vietnam War wrong. What would you do if an 8 year old girl had 3 gernades strapped to her and ready to blow you up? How about the barber that might slash your neck getting a haircut. What would you do? Me POP served 3 tours in NAM. 2 purple hearts, bronze & silver star and talk about something neither you or your family have lived. Hell you were born near the end of the war. Your a paper jockey.

Dude...my god..you so miss the point.
Im not saying anyting is wrong with American pride, but building a country requires change..and thats all i hope to initiate. (hate to say it..but your an idiot, you totally missed this even though ive told you a hundred times)
Baby killer? No. He did what he had to do to defend himself. Dont stereotype me, cause your wasting my time. But your pop got involved, to defend his country? Would he do it if he didnt get paid, had to stay in the U.S. just shuffling paper, or another job he might hate?
And CompGeek..dead wrong, motivations are important.

Somebody needs to jack slap you a few times. You don't hesitate to throw insults on a thread but can you face to face? As a red, white and blue true Ameican I can. Hide your identity and hide your posting while your at it.

Nothing sinks in with me when a moron destroys a perfectly good thread. I'm a thick headed American.
Like the others said post your ideas in your own thread. You waged war with the wrong crowd. You call me an idiot but you started it all with a first post using an alternate identity...coward.

Perspective, I along with many others here have failed to see your point. I think that maybe, you don't really have a point. I think you may have an agenda and I think I have heard it all before.
I've said this many many times to newcomers and members of the old boys club alike....bitch all you want but unless you come to MY table with a SOLUTION to your perceived problems...I'm not listening.
All you have done is solidified my position and you don't even know what that is yet because all you have done is play hit and run...dodge this and dodge that, beat around the bush.....
What is your major problem????
Spell it out or shut up.
It is fairly simple....let me give you an example.
My major problem is that terrorists keep attacking the US from within. My solution is to deport all persons who aren't US citizens.
This is an example only!!!!
Now if you continue down this path....I will not hesitate to simply stop responding and ignore you. I will also campaign the board to do likewise.
You will become a ghost...transparent....and you will logoff this forum knowing that all you did not change one persons mind.
BTW....you haven't changed my way of thinking at all....in fact I want to thank you for making me stronger. You have solidified my American Pride and ATTITUDE!
So, you can either respond in kind with a solution to your biggest gripe or you will be shutdown and cutoff....

No, am i sure ive opened some eyes up, and yes, the present context aint great, i agree with you, America has got to do everything to avoid further terrorist attacks. You havent read all my post, or havent understood them. Im saying if you really want to put an end to it (deportations aint gonna do ****, you gotta know that, many citizens are capable of it, and its easy as hell to sneak in), America has to change its foreing policy.

But to blindly make a statement like that Crump is ignorant. It isn't true.with all due respect....
you are right...I will tell my grandpa who is affiliated with that kinda stuff that he is ignorant as well...even though docs pass through his hands all the time that he says the public would crap their pants if they knew!
Everybody is taking the Afghan war lightly, but in the meantime the realisation that a full-blown war is in progress creates all the uncertainties (and inevitable surprises) that wars always produce.
was not trying to piss anyone off by my post...it is trueOriginally posted by Martiangod
Well I wasnt going to but I guess I will stick my head in this, This is a very feeble attemp at pissing off one poster that has the ramafication of pissing off many.
History shows that Canada can stand on its own. While the USA stood on the sidelines for most of WW2 Canada was on the front lines. We were the first county to design, build and fly a supersonic Delta wing Jet. History also shows that in the battle of North and South We also kicked your butts. You can't survive without our lumber industry or our Mining industry. In the very near future you also will not be able to survive without our fresh water reserves.
These are facts, just as the fact that we could not survive without many of the benifits we get from being neighbores with the U.S.
So to blindly insult MY country because one poster disagrees with your opinion, is as wrong as what your view on what he is saying.

Crump...you are talking smack to the wrong dude...I have a security clearance for my job in the military...I won't say which one or what for, but I too see things that would make the "public" shudder. But the fact of the matter is that it is none of the publics business when it comes to their own safety...if you can't understand that concept then what am I to do...would you have me repeat my dealings to Bin Laden so that they may be used against us????Originally posted by Crump

I tried telling you nicely and respectfully that you were wrong...you are not in the know, you aren't in a position where you are privy to the kinds of things that I along with your grandpa are...now just drop it and learn from it....there is a difference between the FOIA and matters of National Security...I tried to clarify this for you but now you are refusing to argue the point which you know nothing about. Why?

Perspective,
A soldier waves the flag of patriotism, waxing rhetoric. You take issue stating that the lives of people in other countries are also important. I can see that. However, I think you can understand that citizens are going to be far more concerned for their own than others. It is only logical.
Like I said before, the Vietnamese are more than welcome to build a monument to their fallen. We have already done the same.
I have noticed that Canadians have a bit of a distaste for American chest thumping and enjoy taking us down a notch. Heck, we all have egos to whet.
I am tired.

Umm.. no offense, but:
"the fact of the matter is that it is none of the publics business when it comes to their own safety..." is just plain silly. Yes, I also have clearances.
Truly if you want to know how we're gathering intel just go read Jane's Defense Weekly, Popular Science, and Aviation Week.

My point is simply that you can find out an ENORMOUS amount of information if you have any clue where to look for it.
A small moderator note to others: Let's not get into Canada bashing. It's neither necessary nor appropriate for the board.
As for the individual who first made the topic explode, it comes down to this. There are lots of people with complaints. You are simply another one of them. Like most, you have some vague complaints but absolutely no way to redress it. I have yet to hear you offer a single solitary solution. Not one. In forty odd posts.
You have our permission to whine on the BBS, of course. However, just because it's about the US doesn't give it any special significance. It's still just a whine until you come up with viable solutions. Viable as in more substantive than "reassess all your policies" or some such drivel. Be VERY specific about which part of WHAT policy you find abhorrent and your proposed solution. If you truly can't take it down to brass tacks your wasting everyone's time and are in effect trolling.

I never said that Japan's freedoms were protected by the US. I said that they are protected. And again you prove my point for me. If our service members had not won that war, you and I would be speaking Japanese. You should give thanks and respect to those veterans.
(2) Funk..your saying Japan's freedoms were protected by the U.S? Well if thats so, id say your approach was maybe unique (A-Bomb) Ah scratch that. =) Either way, were talking today, and they have a very small standing army, and are essensitially under occupation by the U.S. forces (as any1 from Kobe). And today, they face no threat of being truly taken over.
As for loss of life.................. Mess with the best, die like the rest.... Are you now going to say that we are bad for killing so many Taliban fighters and only losing 2 men?
I say that's GREAT!!!! Do you somehow want to see the same amount of Americans dying as the Taliban?
To quote Patton "Noone ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb bastard die for his."
Japan doesn't have a standing Army, they have a self defense force. That is nothing more than a speedbump to any invading force. It is the Americans that protect them and it is FAR from an occupation. That ended in 1972.
The reason, BECASUE WE WON!
They lost the apple sauce and the right to have a military.
Fair is Fair. Had they not attacked our land, we would never have dropped the Nukes. The amount of American lives that would have been lost invading Japan would have been too great.
And today, they face no threat of being truly taken over.
At least we agree on something. I'm just amazed that you will not give credit to our military men for making that statement a reality.
