Heck the Canadain Govt. doesn't even have veterans package, VA health care facilties nor do they cross the Red Line if you catch my drift.

I know the facts. I've been there and bought the t-shirt. Saw it first hand. The government would not even accept my Veterans Disablity card for VA treatment. Nuff said!

I went in the military because it was a way out of the streets. To better my life....education...college funding. I learned RESPECT, HONOR (Honour in Canada) and a true connection to my country. Something you have no idea about. I didn't go into the military to blow s**t up or to collect a pay check you arrogant a**.

Actually GS we do have a department of veteran affairs, My father was served very well by them, they do provide a great deal of assistance medical and otherwise for vets that were injured while in the service.
When he was dieing of cancer, we were able to get hospital beds, bath lifts, meds and many more things due to the fact that he was a vet. Over the years I also saw my father gain these benifits for many other vets.
Add to that our public health care system vets here are not out in the cold, unless they expect this treatment without asking or prooving need.

criticize your country? I live here now. My own fellow Canadians agree. Most want a US merge because the govt. can't support it's out country. Hell Quebec and other provinces hit states like NY up for multi million dollar loans.

the military is a job like any other, you get paid for it and you know the risks to begin with. if you die, you do it defending your country whether you joined with the ideal to defend the country or hopes of being able to play GI Joe

No, am i sure ive opened some eyes up, and yes, the present context aint great, i agree with you, America has got to do everything to avoid further terrorist attacks. You havent read all my post, or havent understood them. Im saying if you really want to put an end to it (deportations aint gonna do ****, you gotta know that, many citizens are capable of it, and its easy as hell to sneak in), America has to change its foreing policy.

But the fact of the matter is that it is none of the publics business when it comes to their own safety...if you can't understand that concept then what am I to do...would you have me repeat my dealings to Bin Laden so that they may be used against us????

A soldier waves the flag of patriotism, waxing rhetoric. You take issue stating that the lives of people in other countries are also important. I can see that. However, I think you can understand that citizens are going to be far more concerned for their own than others. It is only logical.

Like I said before, the Vietnamese are more than welcome to build a monument to their fallen. We have already done the same.

I have noticed that Canadians have a bit of a distaste for American chest thumping and enjoy taking us down a notch. Heck, we all have egos to whet.

As for the individual who first made the topic explode, it comes down to this. There are lots of people with complaints. You are simply another one of them. Like most, you have some vague complaints but absolutely no way to redress it. I have yet to hear you offer a single solitary solution. Not one. In forty odd posts.

You have our permission to whine on the BBS, of course. However, just because it's about the US doesn't give it any special significance. It's still just a whine until you come up with viable solutions. Viable as in more substantive than "reassess all your policies" or some such drivel. Be VERY specific about which part of WHAT policy you find abhorrent and your proposed solution. If you truly can't take it down to brass tacks your wasting everyone's time and are in effect trolling.

And today, they face no threat of being truly taken over.

I never said that Japan's freedoms were protected by the US. I said that they are protected. And again you prove my point for me. If our service members had not won that war, you and I would be speaking Japanese. You should give thanks and respect to those veterans.
As for loss of life.................. Mess with the best, die like the rest.... Are you now going to say that we are bad for killing so many Taliban fighters and only losing 2 men?

Japan doesn't have a standing Army, they have a self defense force. That is nothing more than a speedbump to any invading force. It is the Americans that protect them and it is FAR from an occupation. That ended in 1972.

Fair is Fair. Had they not attacked our land, we would never have dropped the Nukes. The amount of American lives that would have been lost invading Japan would have been too great.
