i havent run this test for a while now so i just ran it again. i scored 5439 with my setup as u can see it in my sig.
ur score of 1257 seems a little low. make sure ur running it at defualt settings and that nothing unnecessary is running in the background (ie norton, firewalls, etc.). also, did u install the latest matrox drivers and if that is a via chipset motherboard, did u install the latest 4 in1's?

it's a matrox g450

it has no on board t&l and relies on the cpu for all that

a Voodoo 5 is faster then it for comparison

Ugh!

That's not too pretty. But I wouldn't say slower perse. My brother's V5 gets a similar score on a P3 933EB actually.

Yeah I've got one of those G-450 dual heads in a dual boot NT server/98....thinks can look decent on them...but no ball of fire when it comes to speed.

You could cheat like a lot of people here do...and run the ever outdated 3DMark 2000 which will give a score of higher numbers to give the guy a false sense of performing better!

absolutely (*nodding with YeOld*). i had a G400 MAX not that long ago. was not a gaming contender with the likes of the GeForce256 on the market at the time. the MAX was their "hot-rod", and did fairly well in D3D.

Matrox cards are more geared for the business/enterprise market. bearable 3D performance and cost-effective.... but, man do they have some awsome 2D (what is by-and-large the litmus test for a business machine's video). few cards can match the 2D performance/quality of a Matrox card.

if you are a gamer though, they aren't really a serious option.
