Problems with G@H

Post by BaLa »

I'm having some problems with Genome@Home on my 1.4ghz Athlon.

I run the prog continously 24/7.

I have not produced any results for the last couple days now..
and I KNOW it should have at least 3 completed workunits at the very least.

anybody having any similar probs?

couple of questions..........

are you sure you entered your team number and user name?

check the ghclient cfg file it has your user name and team number (334848599)

any chance the you got a bad workunit that blows up?

if you do it will just err off each time at the same spot...if you have the .99 vesrion you have an option to delete bad unit and get a new one.

3 days would be actually around 6 units with your CPU.

whoa............you changed your handle..........something made me come back and check..........I have noticed your numbers have seemed to drop but I thought maybe you were batchin' the results up..........

They told (us) to open up the Embassy, or "we'll blow you away." And then they looked up and saw the Marines on the roof with these really big guns, and they said in Somali, "Igaralli ahow," which means "Excuse me, I didn't mean it, my mistake".

Are you running G@H monitor or Crash Guard? They may give you some idea what is wrong.

Did you try to "clear bad work & restart"? you might also try to force the upload results, both are in the menu for G@H version .99.

Running it as a service? You check to make sure it is running in background?

Anything new or changed on that box?

You say you just switched to cable........try to reconfigue the user info on that one.

Firewall problem maybe? If it can't connect it just reruns the same unit........so you would never seem to have an unit sent back but G@H would just keep running........see if you can time it to watch it as it finishes and see what it does upload and get new unit? or can't connect and reruns same unit.

No I dont run either

No I did not try that, BUT since I reinstalled G@H I should not need to do that

Not as service
You say you just switched to cable........try to reconfigue the user info on that one.
again I reinstalled G@H so that should not be neccesary

well I did have it working before with my linky router so that
should not be the/a problem either..
I don't spend much time in front of the computer watching G@H
most of the time I play UT or whatever...I basically forget about it even being there

anyways in case thats relevant
I have 3 comps all hooked up to my Linky (BEFSR41) Router
and the Cable Modem plugged into the WAN port on the router

Well.........reinstalling was my going to be my last suggestion. Hope that does it for you.

I would suggest that maybe you look at loading those other programs.......between them they pretty much run G@H without any problems. Right now I got G@H running for 248 hours nonstop totally in background as service

Wasn't suggesting you spend your time watching G@H but if you time it right for the upload it would let you at least know if it is connecting and sending and getting new work or rerunning same wu.

Only reason my numbers are down right is some clown invited the Nimda virus into our net at work. Hosed us worldwide on 43 servers I hear.......I got my work box back up but the other 2 boxes I got G@H running on both users have been in Texas all week so got to wait till they get back and run the fix on their boxes. This was of course after we managed to get back from Code Red. That one came in via someplace in France. Just can not believe people are so numb that they let that happen!

Did find something else you might want to try.......It can monitor all your boxes looks like......

sorry didn't mean to ramble on........

reinstalling did not SEEM to do it..
actually thinking about it..I might have been returning the WUs on its own, but my weekly/daily stats don't seem to look like it..
I downloaded and installed Genome Spy seems like a pretty cool lil program..

I will keep watching the stats, and see if it actually is returning the WUs on its own LOL..

not used to that, back when I had the dialup I always ran it with the "nonet" switch..

hmm
this is weird...maybe it has been returning workunits on its own..

I shut down the comps for the night (b/c of weather)
when I turned them back on my 1.4 had 3 units to be sent back, which it did...so I really don't know what the deal is..
