Why do my temps in windows me and windows 2000 have a big difference?

Post by newbie69 »

CPU = AMD Athlon T-Bird 1.4@1.6GHz / 266FSB AYHJA 'F' stepping

In windows me, my idle temps are 26-27 degrees celsius using the thermalright sk-6 with 8000rpm delta fan

and in windows 2000 my idle temps 37+ degrees celsius using the same HSF and same room temperature with windows me

anyone have a clue on whats up with the major difference in temps?

and also theres quite a difference in benchmarks while using sisoft sandra2001te, like my multimedia benchmarks are better in windows me then in windows 200 ,like the MIPS are 200+ points greater in windows me than in windows 200. And the CPU Benchmarks are a little better in windows 2000 than in windows me, anyone have an idea what is causing this, and how to get similer benchmarks?

OH MY GOSH!! I just tested out my score in windows me with multimedia benchmarks, what an unbelievable difference :eek: , i tested benchmarks 10 times on each os :

Sisoft sandra 2001te

hehehehe, WinME has a built in HLT program. CPUIdle, Rain, etc are some examples of HLT progs, which make your CPU run @ lower temps when idle. The only explaination is that Win2K doesn't have a built in HLT prog, probably cuz its targeted more @ servers and stability.
