Another Newbie In Need of Lobo's Help
Im Just wondering...does cablenut work for dsl?? or is it for cable only? If it does work how do I use it. I've dled it and seen wats in it, but i dont know what values to put in it. As u can tell im new at these kind of things. Can anything be done to speed up my connection???? Thank you in advance!!
System: 1.2 AMD Athlon, 512 pc133 RAM, Win2k
Internet provider: Verizon DSL (768down/121up)
TCP options string = 020405b40103030001010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 49 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

i can't belive you said this....
That's not what was asked of you... all you had to do is show him how to get here-->How to use cablenuts softwareOriginally posted by Lobo
Start over, uninstall Cablenut and follow directions on help thread below, no ccs file![]()
And don't flood my e-mail with all your crying...
No Question is a dumb Question when it comes to Tweaking!
Re: Another Newbie In Need of Lobo's Help
Since your MTU is 1500 I would use the cable normal ccs file for the DSL connection depending on the speed of your connection..Originally posted by kulitxkulot

simply click on the shortcut (that looks like a folder) on your desk top and open the adjuster (the icon that looks like a Jack in the box)
make sure to pick you OS(operating system) from the pull down menu, off the adjuster..
next use the pull down menu to open a ccs file this will be in a folder called ccs or cable or dsl/pppoe
give it a try Let us know we also have a beta out but I think you'll be just as happy with the current version

Ok. I installed cablenut and applied the ccs file that u guys said i should. Then, I installed the speed tweak and the web tweak. Here's wats in the cablenut after all these.
EnablePMTUDiscovery = 1
GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = 256960
SackOpts = 1
Tcp1323Opts = 1
TcpMaxDupAcks = 3
TcpWindowSize = 256960
MaxConnectionPer1_0Server = 32
MaxConnectionPerServer = 32
DefaultTTL = 64
And the rest are blanks. So is there something i did wrong or can i add something else to cablenut because my speed got slower. I wrote down wat my connection is..so when i do a speed test wat should result be (approx.) to know that the tweak works??? And heres my Tcp/Ip Analyzer:

Was hopping for different results But the cable setting is to fat for your subscribed speed
At this point you have two choices
the first is to try one of the other ccs files in the pppoe dsl folder
The other would be to set the Rwin in the adjuster to a even multiple of mss and that will definetly be below the 64240.
on the other hand....... well give that a try

kulitxkulot,
Bring up Cablenuts adjuster inside Cablenut on desktop the numbers below go in 3 places in W2k and XP, they are: DefaultReceiveWindow, TcpWindowSize, GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize, take out number that is in there and put in one of these, 1 at a time, try: 64240
You do not have to show me but check analyzer here at SG to make sure RWIN is in, you will see number right after (RWIN) on analyzer
At bottom click save to registry, and REBOOT each time you change value in adjuster or it will not work. Click on tools at top of IE, internet options, delete files and offline files (This is safe, temp files) and click on clear history after EVERY test . Fast speed test here
Speedtest may open another browser, so check taskbar and close other, no other programs should be running, No AIM, ICQ, Virus scanner, Firewall, nothing

My Problem is people mis-leading newbies who ask a simple question and get an answer that because of you're own feelings were hurt that are opposite of what they wanted to know in the first place.
By the way... Love your help page... where did you get all that info from? hummm?
