The firewall I am using now comes from Agnitum from Russia and is called OutPost. The list is from the Quickstart.pdf manual
! Starts protecting immediately after being installed.
! Has default configuration settings for new users.
! Can be customized in detail by advanced users.
! Makes your computer invisible on the Internet.
! Locks your computer’s “doors” (Internet ports) against intrusion.
! Let’s you decide how much an application should be trusted.
! Advises new users with each selection they make.
! Advanced users can extend Outpost’s capabilities.
! Uses plug-ins to increase its power while keeping the same familiar interface.
! Stops Internet ads from distracting you or slowing your browsing.
! Prevents ad tracking of your surfing habits and interests.
! Prevents your computer from being controlled remotely.
! Notifies you of any hidden software attempting to “phone home” to a hacker.
! Uses all versions of Windows so can still be used if you upgrade.
! Uses very little system resources so does not noticeably affect your computer’s performance.

After using it, IMHO (and at the risk of inflaming the firewall debate) it leaves ZA, Sygate and possibly Tiny in it's wake.

At the moment it is in Beta testing and d/loads are free. The page linked is in Russian with an English d/load link at the bottom.
There is a guide to using OutPost as well. Both are linked below. Unfortunately the screenshots are also in Russian.Direct Download here The Quickstart guide is here in pdf.

Check this out and d/load it if you want to. Great program. I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Zone Alarm. I have used both and I like Zone Alarm much better. Norton was more complicated and it didnt have as much ability to allow or disallow inbound or outbound connections like Zone Alarm does. I also like Zone Alarms lock, which you can set to lock your computer down when either the screen saver goes on or you set a certain amount of time.

There were two things that I did like about Nortons though.

1. Add blocking
2. Browser Privacy-which now you can just use IE6 for browser privacy
Windows has not yet detected a keyboard. Press any key to continue.

ZoneAlarm is great, and doesn't try to own your puter like Norton proggies do. Za is easy to use and configure for the less experienced too.

Norton products cause all kinds of problems for the less experienced users, and they are a headache (to say the least) to get rid of, if you decide you don't like them.
