Yeah ASUS makes the "GAFL" series Motherboards. They support RAMBUS with the new "GFY" architechture.

You may find some information on them if you do a search for "GFY" on Yahoo (have to search for webpage matches). It's the first link (I think).

:)
Simply run adaware, spybot, ZoneAlarm, HijackThis, AVG, update windows daily, have a router, don't open e-mail, turn off action scripting, don't use P2P networks, don't violate EULAs, and wear a condom to get Windows secured.

People say Linux is alot of work!

The VIA KT830A supports Athlon Palomino and RDRAM.

But only RDRAM in 256 meg sticks, of course.

But you have to order the memory, then the mobo a week after the RAM arrives.

HAHA, it's like you don't accept your own appology cause you started it and i'm giving the apology. this stinks

Bottom Line

This time I presented you four different benchmarks and in three of them Pentium 4 came out victorious. Basing a whole article on those four benchmarks would automatically have to lead to a favorable review of Pentium 4.

This is not my only Pentium 4 article however and those are not the only benchmarks we ran. Therefore the outcome still remains the same. Pentium 4 has got clear flaws, but it's not a piece of crap either. It performs well in 3D-games, it is able to do very fast video-encoding and it seems to give you some kind of edge using the Internet, boosting Intel's amusing 'NetBurst'-hype.

Pentium 4 is still much more expensive than AMD's Athlon, it only runs with the expensive RDRAM-memory and it requires a new kind of power supply and case, thus blowing up system costs even more. In office applications and several other areas Athlon is able to beat Pentium 4 and that at significantly lower costs. Then there is the issue that by this time next year a new model will replace the current Pentium 4, introducing a different socket (Socket478), which destroys a reasonable upgrade path.

There is enough that speaks against Pentium 4 for people who are reasonable. Once again I have to express my feel about Pentium 4 as some kind of life-style symbol rather than a must-have. However, AMD has started to run into trouble as well. While I am being bold enough supplying you with benchmark data of Athlon 1200/133 on an AMD760-platform, you are utterly unable to get your hands on one. It is currently unknown how long it will take until AMD760 motherboards will become available and the alternative ALi Magik1 platforms have so far shown significant lower performance than AMD760.

If you have dedicated areas in which you want your computer to perform particularly well, if those areas should be 3D gaming, video encoding or other bandwidth intensive software and if you should not shy away from high system costs and the missing upgrade path, you should indeed consider Pentium 4. However, if you want a balanced system with excellent performance at a good price I heavily suggest Athlon, even though you might have to wait until the high-end AMD760/DDR platforms will become available.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That you are an uninformed buyer who should go Dell? COME ON! EVEN Tom admits it!

Well geez, I wonder what the smart thing would be to do, buy a box that cost an enomous heap of money and has no possible future? or get a cost effiecent box that not only competes with this expensive box in benchmarks, but will save me much money. Gee, I wonder. Look, HnH, you obviously have no clue as to what you are talking about, so I'll be even more blunt, GO CUT AND PASTE SOMETHING THAT SEEMS THE SLIGHTEST BIT INTELLIGENT AND THEN POST IT.

God you contradict yourself so much with posting that darn gosh not intelligent article from "Tom's Hardware", it's not even funny anymore. I don't care how new, irgnorant or annoying you are, go learn something.

HnH Enough.
As a fan of both companies, I offically declare you a newbie who should learn his place. Don't go shooting off your mouth about which company is better, bigger and has a faster CPU. If you knew JACK about the computer industry or the hardware, you'd shut your mouth and think before you speak. Yes the P4 does have a higher memory bandwidth and it may be better for server/workstation applications. BUT in the gaming world, AMD had proven itself to hold it's own with their technology. A 1.4ghz "Thunderbird" can and will hold and beat a P4 1.7 in some aspects. It's plain and simple, more mhz doesn't mean better performance. And for your information, yes AMD cpus do run hotter, but they clearly outperform the Intel's when it comes down to clock for clock. Both have their pros and cons, so it's the user that has to decide what they want and what suits their needs most. And it's not just a few dollars difference between the two companies; right now here in Toronto, the cost of a PIII 866EB cost $202CAD retail, while the AMD T-bird 1.2ghz(266fsb) cost $202 retail. That's a 334mhz difference for the same fricken price. Even when clock for clock (I can't find a T-bird 800, so I'll just use a 900.) a T-bird 900mhz only cost $130 retail, that's a $72 dollar difference, which could buy you a better HS/F solution to cool your cpu.

Go and learn some more before you go on the hardware board posting such flithy newbie garbage.

Who the FUK cares about this fuking ignorant newbie. We all know that the P4 sux, but it looks good because of Heavily SSE2 optimized benchmarks. Read about it here: http://www.hardocp.com/reviews/cpus/intel/p417/

The T-bird kills the P4 in all the benchmarks that aren't P4 optimized.

Let the fukin newbie buy his P4, then we all get to laugh at his stupid ass when we spend half the $ he did on a Palomino that is 2x faster.
