Newbies

Post by terrancelam »

Can't live with them and definately can go on without them. There are some damn ignorant and retarded newbs that have been coming out recently and it's starting to really piss me off. Just for the professional and hardware/oc forums, can't we like had a trial that test to see if they are ready to post there in the forum yet (Or atleast have the mods ban the ignorant ones)? I mean, there is a little "boy" going around proclaiming how good this and that is good (saying that Intel is much better then AMD and what not) and that just gets my blood boiling. I mean it's one thing to have an opinion, but to go around shoving yours into someone's face like that(Especially when it's not correct, proven by benchmarks)? It's people like that who sour my experience with new people and helping them. Anyone have any thoughts or comments on the subject?

Ignore them. Report their behavior. Call em out. Often times winning an argument isn't winning overall, let the idiots (exclude me please) scream at the wall.

i bet $100 bucks that someone said the same thing about you when you first joined speedguide

so what, yeah they get on your nerves, yes they post ignorant things, but they will never post intelligent things if they dont learn by their mistakes and all the bashing they get from us regulars here on SG

Well you know what? we should have a thread for Most hated newbie of the day and see who makes it everyday. as for me being a newb, yea I was a new, but I actually learned things in my two months and I generally treated people with respect unless they were complete dolts.

I can understand your frustration.. I go into the Hardware forums and in there it's nothing but business and to see someone trash it with mindless dribble could definatly make it frustrating.. no matter what newbies will always be just as regulars will be a strong point of the forums.. can't have one without the other.. theroreticaly. lol

Looking at my posts counter, I think I am classiied as a newbie, right?

BUT, what true judgment can be made about me?
ONLY TWO, I joined here recently, or I don't post much. THAT'S IT!!!
Nothing more!
But with this thread your making a judgment that every newbie is stupid and knows nothing, but how can you know that I don't work for an ISP and I am the one how's teaching the technical staff how to help YOU!?!?

You want a test for "newbiesim" if so, and not a single new person qualifies, then what? If you all know everything about everything and still don't want to help newbies in learning this forum will be talking about what then?

Guys get real about it, everyone has to start somewhere. And if someone is annoying you tell a mod and get on!

True dat cornbread, I learn a couple things every day here, that's why I'm addicted!!

As far as the newbie thing goes, I don't care if you don't know the on button on your computer, or you build them for a living, when you come on an internet based forum/chat/communications line, you treat people just as you would in real life, with respect, honesty, patientice, and you'll do allright. I know when I first came here, I was as new as they come. But I didn't act like a smart ass, or post stupid crap, etc, etc, and over time you get to know people and know what you can do, and what's out of line. Simple as that.

terrancelam,

I dont think newbies are bugging you, but for the few SGers that are, maybe you should try the ignore feature? It could help you out a bit because you cant see what those members are saying anymore. Last thing SG needs is another helpful member leaving because hes p1ssed off at someone. :)

I know just how you feel!!!!

I recently took a test from AMD to sell OEM chips, scored highest in the group who took it with me, I have been called an idiot because I praise AMD, I show the benchmakrs I and others have done. 1.4 Ghz Athalon out performed the 1.7 P4!!!

I was called a lier. Question 5 was about the benchmarks!!

Anyway, online newbians can be ignored...a best freind who is a newbian idiot is another...

oh well, the world goes on, newbians will be newbians untill they day they buy a book and browse the chip maker sites and learn all they can!!!

If you took the time to actually read my post, you figure out that I am soured by my bad experience with newbs and your not helping that case at all. So what if your an ISP Q&A advisor? Does that mean because you are also a newb you get to treat other peple like crap? I didn't say that all newbs are bad, but I said there are some who just ruin it for everyone and piss them off. By defending them with your mannerisms, your not helping their case at all. So what if your a newb, did we come and point you out as being the "bad egg" ?

However I can say that I understand where you are coming from. Not all newbs are bad, just the ones who have no respect for others and are extremely annoying. We couldn't and wouldn't exist if there weren't new people joining, but it's the quality of the new people joining that concerns me. If you want to learn and you can't treat the people you are learning from a shred of respect or decency, then you can just goto dell for all I care.

WOW!!

All points taken, I am admittedly learning as I go here. I have learned many things while reading threads, I would help anybody anytime, however I am in no way quite as advanced as many of you, but even though my posts are few and far between, I enjoy the information swapping that goes on regularly. Thank everyone.

Just a little advice, there is no use getting worked up over someones reply to a post. If it doesn't fit then move on to another one that does.

Peace!:2cool:
