What is a Ramdrive?

What is a ram drive and how do you store stuff onto your ram??

a RAM drive is simply making a portion of your RAM a storage space so you can run things directly out of it, since RAM is mucho times faster then a hard drive things are extremely fast, loading for example.....

a RAM Drive will show up like a hard drive, with a drive letter, it will store stuff like a harddrive, except the difference is when you shut down your pc or restart it you loose everything in the RAM drive because RAM is volatile....

check the network security forum. The top imporant post deals with ram drives and how they are setup. I have a 30meg ram drive on this computer just for IE cache and i swear by it. It makes a little bit faster, but more imporantly it frees up my hard drive for better multitasking whil i'm online.

Ahhh could someone point me to a good networking security forum? And if anyone where knows how to do this ram storage stuff, would you mind walking me through it?
