Hello,I was wondering if anyone could help me out on a tweak.I installed Cablenut 4.2 and used the Normal Cable CCS setting.I tried the Fast Cable CCS But web pages kept freezing and had to control alt delete to escape.I havent installed any of speedguides patches yet. Will they help or should i do it manually with cablenut?
Im running 98SE with a pentium 2 400 with 128 megs ram.
Here are values. What can improve on that wont freeze my PC..... RWINS?Should i install web page load faster patch? How do i find out that im being capped?I was on a 3200 dial up for 2 years so my speed is great to me,but i want the max out of my downloads.

Your RWIN value doesn't look like it was changed by the adjuster. You need the win98 fix which could be found here . It will boost up your RWIN (Default Rcv Value) value to which ever you use with the cable nut program. Restart after each time you change the values. Also if you have @home cable, Disable the proxy...Goto IE then Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Lan Settings and make sure nothing is checked. Then re-take the TCP/IP analyzer test and post results so the speed guide gurus can give you some nice RWINS to use.

Ok I installed the Win 98 fix, went into Cablenut adjuster and changes rwin to another #,rebooted and ran test again and this is what it said for rwin
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
Why didnt it register patch?

Try this one If that doesn't work, you might have Tcp12330pts set to "0", change it to "1". Try that fix first, reboot and take the test again and see if it works.

Hmmm...Atleast it works...I don't know about the packet loss though, you should try the ping test at pcpitstop here. COpy & paste your results, nothing should be over 200ms. Someone else might have a better RWIN value for you.
