i'm on rogers@home cable here in toronto and i used to get steady speeds both ways except for the past couple of months. what bothers me is how marginal the speed difference is from very early in the morning(5-8am) compared to the rest of the day. Early in the morning, i get very low pings with 400KB/s down avg and 50KB/s up. But for the rest of the day, i rarely hit 200KB/s get horrible pings and 6KB/s upload. i'm currently dual booting winME and winXP beta 2475. is there a patch that can help me get some decent steady speeds or is it a problem with my service.

I know exactly what you mean I am in Toronto as well and I am getting the same speeds. In the begining it was great and than the speed was slower and slower. I have tried all kinds of tweaks and It got a little better but still nothing. I e-mailed rogers and they gave me their BS how the speed varies but nothing solid
Maybe its time to switch to Sympatico

that's exactly what i was thinking, grimreaper. the speeds are pathetic. i've called them and told them specifically about my lacking upload speeds and they told me that uploading at 6KB/s was very normal. i might give rogers a chance for another month but if nothing changes, i might as well give sympatico a shot.
all over canada both sympatico ans @home is being over sold. they are putting too many users on there servers with out expanding fast enough. in short there is nothing you can do about it, I'm even see this problume here in Kingston with sympatico high speed. but the government is starting to look at how much of a problume there realy is with these company over saleing.
