How to find out bandwith cap for download and/or uploading?
maybe this is a dumb question, but i was wondering if there was any way to tell what my provider has me capped at.
ive tried tons of different settings (mostly for RWIN) and my upload never exceeds about 100k/sec (thats terrible)
how do i increase upload speed, without losing too much download speed?

ok ill check...no it doesnt advertise it on the site, it just says up to 100 times faster than dial up services.
what can i do to balance out my uploading/downloading speeds?
right now my RWIN is set at 1833760
my download speed is decent but my uploading sucks bad
i want it to be even for gaming purposes

your upload speed is fine. no ISP's give people a lot of speed as far as uploading. but if you get you download speed up some more you will get more upload speed too.

Take the TCP/IP Analyser and post your results here first of all. Your RWIN is to high too. Try this one 513920. Lobo and EvilAjax have a long list of diff RWIN's you can try.

It can't rain all the time...

k i tweaked a little bit since last post...and by the way it was Ajax who suggested the RWIN setting of 1833760
TCP options string = 020405b40103030301010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 513920
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 3 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 20556.8 kbps (2569.6 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 8222.72 kbps (1027.84 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 16 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

ya i guess my download speed is a bit better, but i want decent upload speed too, and it pretty much sucks.
my download varies greatly: anywhere from 800kb/s to 2500kb/s
upload: 100kb/s to 600kb/s
look at this program, it claims it can make your ping better for gaming.... does it look safe? or is it not worth trusting?

Umm...sorry to tell you, but @Home caps it's uploads at 128kbps...It looks like your Upload isn't capped right now, you're verry lucky..I can only get 14-30k/sec uploads to other cable/dsl people...really pathetic. And on your download speeds are you saying k Bytes/second? Cause if so...those are godly speeds
. I max out at around 400kB/sec on downloads..Let me try that ping program, if you try it..back up your registry FIRST...I'm the ginea pig once again

don't bother with programs...you should learn and try to put in values u'rself..that way you know exactly what got changed and exactly what to remove later if there's a problem.
try these ones as well 522680 or 534176.
Also try putting u'r TTL down to 32.
There isn't really anything you can do to increase u'r upload speed or your ping times. RWIN would be the only thing that could affect your ping

That program didn't do anything...It lowered my RWIN to 46400, and increased my ping from 40 average to 50 average...Don't think that thing really works...Anyways, try a RWIN of 521950 it works best for me w/CS and I have @home and winME too..
Edit: OHH BTW, When I was testing it in CS I awped my team-mate and didn't know Friendly Fire was on...oops
