Help,What to do with RWIN????,

Post by bertski »

I recently lowered my RWIN setting to 30660. After running this test, it seems that maybe I should increase it by A LOT(513920 on the high end and 64240 on the low end)Both are at least double my current setting.Is this correct and what would be the suggested RWIN setting??I have W98, ADSL connection via Bellsouth.Can I get higher speeds as I currently get about 1200 kbps.Any help would be gratly appreciated
TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 30660
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 30660
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1226.4 kbps (153.3 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 490.56 kbps (61.32 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 115 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

lobo what patch sets it to 255552...isnt the cablenut patches for PPPOE dsl??? do they have any patches anywhere for PPPOA dsl?? I
ALSO have bellsouth adsl with ppoA..I have tried the pppoe dsl cablenut patch for win 98 but, as with the speedguide patches my download speed is ALWAYS 85..or 700-750kbs..no rwin change has affected it ever..
nor mtu for that matter...I've tried all..I wish I could find a PPPoA patch!! :mad:

ps I wish I knew how he got 1200kbs speed!

What would you suggest I try re-setting the RWIN to?? I use Drtcp to adjust it.

You need adjuster no matter what, it comes blank, default values are being used you enter what you want or download something that will put values in box :eek: It's a lot easier than going into registry :)
