DLS Speed boost when over the 18000' limit
I'm getting DSL service from my phone company. I recently moved. at my old address I was getting 1.5 everytime but now I connect at about 900K at the best and sometime as low as 600K. I'm set for 1.5M but cause I'm past 18,000 the phone guy said that is the best I can get.
What I'd like to know is is there anything I can do on my end the speed this up a bit? Get an amp or a filter or something. BTW I have 3 different modems(due to a mix up at the phone company :-) ) I have an Alcatel speedstream 4060 USB, a 3COM PCI DSL, and a Alcatel speedtouch USB. I'm using the speedstream curently. WHich one should I use.
I'm a total DSL novice so please forgive me if I goofed up on something.

your lucky that you are getting the speeds that you are since you are over the distance limit. Usually you cant even get DSL when you are over the distance limit.
Now on to increasing your speed. The only thing you can do it try to tweak you registry settings to make your connection faster.
At the top of the tweaking forum, click on the TCP/IP analyzer and post the results here. Once you do that, im sure someone here can figure out an apropriate speed tweak for you.
By the way, Welcome to SpeedGuide!!!

This is what is said. I don't have a clue what any of this means hehe. Please someone help me I'm drowning in data that I don't understand hehe.
SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer
TCP properties for IP = xx.xx.xx.xx
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
TCP options string = 020405b401010402
MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.
MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.
Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 8760
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 8760
RWIN is a multiple of MSS
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)
bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 350.4 kbps (43.8 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 140.16 kbps (17.52 KBytes/s) @ 500ms
Consider increasing your RWIN value to optimize TCP/IP for broadband.
MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON
Time to live left = 113 hops
TTL value is ok.
Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF
Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON
IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

Well first a explanation of PPPoE:PPPoE you have to log on with name and password.
PPPoE ( Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet ) is a method for building PPP sessions and encapsulating packets, as described in RFC2516. Although it is not a standard, PPPoE is already being used by a number of DSL providers. It requires either routers that have built-in PPPoE support, or PPPoE software to "dial up" and establish the session.
If you are not on PPPoE you need other patch, read and you will see it. Directions are in link below

Lobo no offense but why did you tell Matt you had it under control. They were the ones that sarted the thread. Matt was just trying to help him. Then you jump in and tell him not to. Then jump someone eles for pointing it out. Lobo chill Please. Their a lot of people who know as much as you or even more. Take a break. Before you burn out.No offense but this forum will survive if you take a brake.
Plus I know you will email when you read this. so please do. I have some things I want to email you and let youmess with and you will see what I mean. From my other post you will email me over to. I will send you a list of every tweak that has been around sense cable came out. Then do some test of your own on your sytem and if you have another one do the same and you will see my point on no two sytems are the same. Some with lower Cpu will eccept Higher rwins then others. OK.

I have been reading the message lines above. I am a newcomer to this board and concept, so please bear with me a little.
My readings are almost identical to Izod's. Is there nothing I can do to jump it a little? I have tried all the tweaks, and it helped a little, but onlt a little.
Thanks for all your help.

Do this first start your own thread or post then put in it this:
Please click up above on our tweak test/ TCP/IP
Analayzer. so I may see test results do this :
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you.
